Question about Kenmore 55612 / 55614 / 5561 / 655619 Side by Side Refrigerator
The right door to my side-by-side refrigerator is making avery loud popping noise when it is opened and closed. sounds like it is in the hinge mechanism. Any ideas for a fix? I tried adding some silicon lubrication but it is still loud. thanks I have a bottom freezer refrigerator, about 1 1/2 years old. About 30 seconds to a min. after the compressor starts, there is about 6 or 8 pops that sound like its coming from the bottom of the refrigerator, the owners manual says this is normal. My old one didn't do this. What causes this? I'm sure it won't cause any harm, just curious. gplesh99.
Now that the hinge mechanism is lubricated with no result it is presumed that the popping sound is because of the escape of compressed air from inside the refrigerator. so nothing to worry about so far it is maintaining its cool temperature inside.

Noise can come from these areas:
The inside of the freezer
The outside back of the refrigerator
The bottom of the refrigerator
The inside of the freezer Self-defrosting refrigerators use a circulating fan to move the air through the freezer and refrigerator compartments. This fan runs whenever the unit is cooling. The fan is located in the freezer, as follows:
To find out if the fan is causing the noise, just open the freezer door and push in any fan/light switches. If the noise is louder when the door is open, the evaporator fan motor is the cause. You can't lubricate or repair this motor. You must replace it.
The outside back of the refrigerator There are three components on the outside back of the refrigerator that may become noisy: the compressor, the condenser fan motor (if self-defrosting), or the defrost timer (if self-defrosting).
