Question about ASUS P4B533 Motherboard

1 Answer

P4B533 Motherboard I had a pent 4 1.8 ghz installed. Then I took it out and put a Celeron 1.7 in it was too slow so I put the 1.8 Pent in and now I don't get a screen and the hard drive and floppy do not boot. They work with the Celeron but not with 1.8 Pent. But they worked before. I want to try to set the mother board but I can't get to set up with the 1.8 in the system. I can get in with the Celeron but it does not allow me to change the Speed from 1700 to 1800 what do I do

Boots 3 or 4 sec

There is an error somwhere in your assembling of the components & the system is protecting itself by shutting down. Re-check everything especially the memory cards. Make certain they are well seated in their slots and the clips are fully into position. make sure the cooling pipes are not pushing the cards out of position. Check all Mother board connections to see if they are fitted properly too.

Driver for prescott 533

I think you're a little confused LUNISOZZI. Allow me to explain.
The term Prescott is a type of CPU. 533 is the (FSB), bus speed that the CPU can run at. There is no driver needed for the Intel Pent 4 Prescott 533 CPU. When updating windows there may be a revision update for the Pent 4 Prescott 533 CPU listed in windows update to the left under hardware. If you're CPU is not beeing seen by windows correctly than check windows update. If you're CPU is not working in on the Asus board, than remove the CPU & check the connecting pins on the CPU. One or more may be bent or broken. CPU may not be completely seated. Thermal grease was not added or too little added between the CPU & heat sink assembly.
Why don't you explain what it is that the CPU is or is not doing?
What is the motherboard not seeing? or windows ia not doing?
I can find a solution if you can explain.

Wont post with 1333 fsb

This board wont take a 1333 cpu. The fastest it will run is 1066

This motherboard supports the latest Intel® Pentium / Celeron CPU in LGA775 package with 1066/ 800/ 533MHz FSB, Hyper-Threading Technology and core-speeds up to 3.8GHz and beyond.
Make sure your RAM is DDR2 800mhz
The Pentium D830 runs at 800fsb which is in line with the board capabilities.
