Why are my stored pictures corrupted? - Kodak EasyShare C360 Digital Camera

The problem is simple in nature but may turn out to be more complex than we like to think of it. Normally the pictures should have been saved to the memory card and furthermore they should still be there. However, in this case, if the camera asks you to format the card, it means that the files or the card itself becomed corrupted and the camera can't recognise any of it's files. In this situation, the camera assumes the card is brand new and unformatted (or corrupted/unreadable) and asks for a format. Most cameras use a file system called FAT16 or FAT32. This is a way to manage the space on a memory device (card in this case) and it's standardized with the computer world meaning if you for example take a picture save it on the card and put the card on your computer via a card-reader, the computer will read it normally. If viceversa you place a picture on the card, the camera will read it fine also. However in your case, if the camera says the card is corrupted or it asks you to format the card, there is a great chance the pictures were corrupted and are now unreadable. You should try to place the card on a computer with a card reader. If the computer says the disk is empty, then a data transmission problem between the camera and the card may have resulted in the corruption of those pictures. Format the card on your computer then place it into your camera and make some pictures to see if this was an isolated incident or still the camera takes pictures but doesn't store them correctly.

For those pictures at least, I think there is a veeery slim chance they are still there somewhere. Practically they are corrupted beyound repair, or even worse, they are simply gone. I'm sorry for telling you the bad news, the only thing i can help with now is to try to diagnosticate if this was an isolated incident or there are chances it ca happen again. Like i've told before, first format the card in your computer, then put it in the camera, then make some test pictures and try to see if you can copy them from the card to the pc. Sounds like the memory card maybe corrupted. Try using a new memory card.

download a photo recovery program and use the program to scan the computer and recover your pictures.

Try formatting the card, it should be one of your camera menu options.

You could try taking the card to a store like Walmart that has a Kodak picture maker machine. It can usually read any card.
