Question about Intel Motherboard

1 Answer

Want to disable BIOS Password

The Bios won't allow me to disable the power-on password. I pulled the laptop apart and put the four jumper switches into all the possible positions. When I do not see the power-on password I see the Master HDD password option.
I am not yet seeing any other switches or jumpers.

It does not give that option. The password is either a power-on password or HDD password, this means that if one is disabled, the other chips in.

Right now I'm working with one of them.

Same ol same ol...need bios pass word: dell inspiron1545 #6xkjvj1-595b Thank you very much in advance. You rock!

You will have to clear the CMOS. This can be done by opening the laptop and locating the jumper "CMOS". There will be 3 pins. Two of them will be jumped together, switch the jumper to the other two pins and press the power button. Then return the pin back to the original two pins and close the laptop. Your done. Login to the bois without a password.

After you move the jumper, turn the computer on to clear the password, then once password removed turn it off and put the jumper back to its original position.

Removing the CMOS Battery to reset the BIOS to default

Switch off your computer, and open up the case. You'll see a circular metallic silver item on motherboard. This is called CMOS Battery. Remove it carefully, and leave it out for about 2 minutes. This act will remove the CMOS memory which contains BIOS password. Set the CMOS battery back and switch on the computer. Restore the CMOS configuration as default. Your BIOS password has been cleared now.

I disabled my aspire4520laptop ipushed the wrong button

if it was the bios password then you can usually just pull a jumper and reset the password on your motherboard. but it will mean taking the computer apart and downloading a user manual for that motherboard to figure out wich jumper to pull.
You also may be able to use a back door pass word but it depends on what bios you are using
These are some of the more popular .
AMI Backdoor BIOS PasswordsReported AMI backdoor BIOS passwords include A.M.I., AAAMMMIII, AMI?SW , AMI_SW, BIOS, CONDO, HEWITT RAND, LKWPETER, MI, and PASSWORD.
Award Backdoor BIOS PasswordsOne reported Award backdoor BIOS password is eight spaces. Other reported Award backdoor BIOS passwords include 01322222, 589589, 589721, 595595, 598598 , ALFAROME, ALLY, ALLy, aLLY, aLLy, aPAf, award, AWARD PW, AWARD SW, AWARD?SW, AWARD_PW, AWARD_SW, AWKWARD, awkward, BIOSTAR, CONCAT, CONDO, Condo, condo, d8on, djonet, HLT, J256, J262, j262, j322, j332, J64, KDD, LKWPETER, Lkwpeter, PINT, pint, SER, SKY_FOX, SYXZ, syxz, TTPTHA, ZAAAADA, ZAAADA, ZBAAACA, and ZJAAADC.
Phoenix Backdoor BIOS PasswordsReported Phoenix BIOS backdoor passwords include BIOS, CMOS, phoenix, and PHOENIX.

Notice most are case sensitive as well.  if those dont work the last option i have is to take out the cmos battery, power cord and battery for computer and leave out for a day then put all back in.  this may reset as well but it takes disasembling the computer.

    Frogot password

It would help if you will clear the BIOS or the CMOS of the laptop. It can be cleared by pulling out the cmos battery of the laptop for a long period of time or by locating the jumper/dipswitch on the motherboard that would clear the BIOS. You may go to these links on ways on how to clear an unknown BIOS password.
