Digital Camera When I turn my camera on it goes straight to max zoom.  Then will not allow me to click a photo even if I wanted to.  I am in Ireland right now so will be difficult to send to serv. cntr in U.S.  Also, I've been having a hard time finding a camera repair in Dublin.  Any suggestions?

The same occured on my camera just out of the blue. When turned on the camera simply zooms to full zoomed in and none of the buttons do work. Only the mode dial button on top and the on/off switch still work.
I also have no clue how to force a reset without use of the menu.

No one mentions that they have checked the SETUP menu and checked that ZOOM RESUME is set to OFF. If this has been done then sorry, the only option I can suggest.

I have problems focusing my f8000sd fuji camera when zooming in on small things.IIf I try to zoom right in on a butterfly for example,it will not focus and I can't use macro and get closer in case it flies...

Use spot metering & focus when taking pictures of an object.
Set your camera to highest Megapixel setting, Only use max. optical zoom on the subject (do not use digital zoom) .U dont need to get close to object as you can edit/zoom/crop the picture using any photo software program afterwards .

Screen and photos turn dark when zoom is used

Take a look at the manual - sounds like you have accidentally changed the white balance setting - you will want to set it back.

Macro in sony W170 digital camera

The resolution of the photo you take determines how grain shows up as you zoom into the Photo, So taking a 10 megapixel photo on optical zoom or no zoom will give you a sharper picture than when you use both the optical and digital zoom to grab your picture. The digital zoom uses the centre of your CCD picture imager rather than the whole CCD so with less elements to your picture when you take it gives you blockiness sooner when you zoom in on the image. I am guessing your friend has digital Zoom turned off in settings to prevent the Graining showing upon magnification. Good light and a steady camera will give you the best results.

Zoom

Hey bello205,
This camera does not allow the user to actually turn off the optical zoom, but does allow the user to shut off the digital zoom. If you are talking about the digital zoom make sure it is turned on in through the menu system. As far as the optical zoom goes make sure you are not in playback mode. If this doesn't work you can try having the camera reset to the original settings every time you shut off the camera by choosing this option under the setup menu in playback mode. If none of this works have the camera looked at by an authorized service technician.

Sincerely,
Allan
