HI. I have a polo 2004 classic. my trunk does not open by remote nor when unlocking from the door. it does however open manually with the key. the motor or pump seems to be working fine when i tested it with an external power supply. it seems as if there is no power going to the motor, but the petrol cap unlocks. please help i have no clue what to do.

First try to open and close l/h rear door then try rear trunk if it:s ok means you have one door lock have fault . check all fuses .and all doors by same way which one is efect replace it.

it is poss the door latch has failed or the wiring to it at the A post to the door wiring has gone open circuit check the wiring has not broken first before renewing the latch
Most door latches have a manual unlock procedure, and for most, you turn the key as far as you can then lift door handle and as you apply lift key should then turn further to unlock door. If this doesn't work on yours, call dealer service department and ask what's the trick on yours.
It is entirely possible that the unlock button on the remote is worn such that it is not making contact. I've seen this happen many times, as the unlock button is pressed so much more than lock. You might try to reprogram the remote first before you look into getting a new remote. The procedure goes like this.
Close and lock all doors
Key in and out of the ignition 6 times, hazard lights should flash twice
Turn key into accessory or on position
Unlock and lock doors with drivers switch
Press lock or unlock on remote
Hazards should flash again to verify recognition
turn key off
manually unlock door and then open and shut it.
you should then be able to test remote.
The key to the procedure is doing step two quickly

you should have trunk key all cars trunk can be open remote by the inside. if any fails you always have a trunk key. check your ignition key .i seen ignition keys do both. it cranks car and open doors and trunk.
