My Name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.
I assume you wish to remove the handles to replace them.
These handles are usually attached to the doors in one of two ways:
1.) There are two 3/32" Hex key screws, one at the top and one at bottom of each handle. Unscrew ( Back off) the screw until the Handle comes off. It is not necessary to completely remove the screw.
2.) There two brackets mounted on each refrigerator door. One at the top & one at the top and one bottom of each handle. There are two screws on the handle, one at the top and one at the bottom. These screw fit into a oversize hole on the bracket. There is a slot below the oversize hole that you push the screws on the back of the handle down into. So, to remove the handle pull up on the handle. You will need some muscle to pull the handle up.
Over time handles with the mounting bracket on the door become loose. You have to remove the handle (pull up) and tighten the bracket mounting screws on the door. Put the handle back on and push down to lock.
Sounds like you mean the light switch. Purchase new one at your local appliance parts house. Look closely at it. Ask the counter man if it installs easily. If so, take it home, UNPLUG THE MACHINE OR SHUT OFF THE CIRCUIT BREAKER. Pry out old one, Attach wires to new one. It should just snap in place.
this happened to mine while still under warranty, eventually the repair man brought a small replacement part which took 5 minutes to fix, but not before a previous engineer had ordered a complete new door.
you should be able to get the part ordered, and it would be easy to replace yourself.
Now my FP oven has broken down again
Sounds like you have a UK model LG refrigerator. Go to www.lge.com and from there you can select your region and get the phone numbers to call the UK LG Parts Dept. to purchase a new handle. Hope this helps.
Unfortunately there is no way to fix this problem. The doors can't be "buffed" out to repair scratches. The only way you can fix scratches on the refrigerator is to buy "touch up paint" from LG and it is only for the sides of the refrigerator. To fix this problem you will have to purchase a new door. You can call LG Parts Dept. 888-393-6484 to purchase this door.
