I have put new cartridges in (generic) and received an error message that the refill container was full. I threw the generic cartridges out and bought Canon and put them in. Now I am still getting E, 2, & 7. All 3 lights are flashing Alarm, Black Ink, & Color Ink. I would appreciate any help I can get.

Did you buy a refilled cartridge or refill it yourself by chance?
Many of the newer printers have chips in the cartridges that keep a count of how many times it's used. Some of the companies that refill cartridges don't do a good job and don't reset or replace that chip. If it wasn't genuine brand name, it was refilled even if they called it "new".
Depending upon what printer model you have, there may be a reprogram cheat or replacement chips for the cartridges.
A number of printers simply will NOT work with "Refilled" ink cartridges. This is because some have a "Chip" inside them that will not allow this to be done. They want you to buy their ink.. and buy a new cartridge each time... SOME places that refill them are able to reset the chip. However "They" have us all by the "Goolies" and as much as you may hate it the best way is to buy a new recommended cartridges. Sux huh?
From doing my research, I have found that the 50C Error message comes from the cartridge, usually if it has been refilled. If this cartridge is new, please return it to the place of purchase for a new one or a refund.
Here's what happens when you refill the Dell Series 2 ink cartridges. There is a sensor in them that cannot be reset.
Dell ink cartridges can only be purchased at Staples, Walmart or Dell's website.
Dell ink cartridges have a sensor that reports the ink level as low
once it reaches a certain level. The sensor can not be reset. If you
refill an ink cartridge that previously reported low ink, it may print
fine, but the sensor will always report low ink. Buying or replacing
ink cartridges with new Dell cartridges will resolve the low ink
Dell discourages ink refills. Refilling ink may lead to print
quality problems, and even eventual hardware problems.
if u have not refilled ur cartridge and u still get this error i suggest u buy a new cartridge.....
There should be a dialogue box that pops up on your computer when the cartridge is low telling you to order new ones. Usually there is a box you can check to tell it to ignore that the cartridge is low. If you don't get the dialogue box, somewhere in your printing preferences you should be able to tell it to "ignore ink levels." There does not exist a cartridge that "does not contain this circuitry." There are no compatibles of these cartridges and all refills are of original manufacturer cartridges.
try this: take all carts out. Unplug machine from power outlet. wait 5 min. leave scanner top open. rplug to power. wait til machine demands carts. reinsert and secure the carts. close cover. answer questions on display. set date and time again in case its not displayed.
If you still receive message use another cart of a diffrent brand. There are many generic carts with bad construction and bad ink out on market.
Best way: refill original brother carts. drill a 2mm hole on top into the brand name (O of brother). refill C/Y/M with a mix of 2ml 85%-glycerol (glycerin alc.) from drugstore and 10ml of DYE ink (shake well before refilling). For BK use 15ml DYE ink mixed with 1.5 ml gylcerol shke very well before refill.
That is happening because you have "smart" chips on your cartridges, so even though you know there is still some ink left in the tank, if the chip says stop, the printer will stop printing. There is a way to bypass that and that is by using a re-setter. You can either buy one or ask to re-set your cartridge in a refill shop. You can also try holding the "resume" button (triangle in circle for about 10 seconds for each cartridge, sometimes doing that resets the cartridges. Do not refill the magenta and cyan cartridges if they are not empty, you'll just be wasting your money. Better use it to buy a re-setter ;) Hope that will help!
