Dimension E510 LCD Monitor with broken power switch

Is there any instructions describing how to fix a broken power switch for a 19" widescreen model number 1907FPt; it's the monitor offered with the Dimension E510.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The computer system has been thoroughly checked over and each componant works when tested in another computer, except the on/off switch and lead that runs to the mother system in the computer.

Anyone any ideas if this part can be bought and/or fixed as it seems a nightmare to scrap just to get a new on/off switch.

How is it broken? Did the button break off and fall out or do you just push it and it doesn't do anything? Also, is your computer still under warranty?

Hi,

Thanks for responding. Nothing happened when you pressed in the power button and the warranty had expired; Dell was no help so don't bother. I read that there were tab(s) on the plastic power button that had broken off and no longer engaged the power switch. I "solved" my monitor problem by drilling through the plastic case between the power button and the minus button, pulled out the plastic power button and pressed the switch with a flat screwdriver to turn on the monitor. Now I leave the power on all the time and put a piece of black masking tape over the space where the power button was. Not the best solution I'm sure, the hole isn't pretty, but it works. If anyone else wants to try this solution be careful when you drill through the plastic case because the switch you want to engage occupies the space between the buttons, exactly where you are drilling. If you drill through the switch you might as well throw the monitor into the recycle bin. I expected to find an actual button switch and was surprised to find a flat, 2 prong circuit switch instead. Good luck to all.

Hi, I have a V7 L19WA - 19" widescreen monitor.

The fact that you can see a faint picture indicates that the monitor is working but the backlight circuit has a problem. The typical failures are blown transistors or bad capacitors. This can be troubleshot if you know how to unsolder and check the components with a meter. Don't know how technical you are, but if you are not, you could take to to an electronic repair service to fix. Hope this helps you.

Monitor boots ok, then "Analog" appears/monitor shuts off

Does it have a digital port being used? If you are using the DVI port, it is probably digital. Try using the menu to selct the port. If it doesn't work, not sure from here. What is the model number?

No display, clipping sound appear

The clipping sound is the internal safety switch that keep shutting down the monitor.
It means there is an internal problem on the main board (overvoltage, bad component , short).
Try unplugging power cord and leaving it unplugged two or three hours, this will reset ICs by draining power completely from circuits, it is called hard reset, it rarely works.
CRT monitors waste up to 15 times more energy than TFT screen, if your CRT starts giving troubles, then it is a good time for upgrading it to a new TFT.

Vertical size

LCD monitors auto adjust and use a fixed resolution. It's impossible to reduce the vertical scan. The only what I could think of is to specify a widescreen resolution if the monitor is not widescreen and this may only work if you are connected by DVI cable. Sorry!

Monitor has no power

is posible a malfunction on the power on/off button or a internal integrate burn, the best thing that u can't do is to get on a service dep to get fix if u don't have a good electrical degree, im sorry for that but this is the real truth.
