    Dear Jim,

You are right. I checked with a headphone and it is working perfect.
Can you please let me know if it it possible to replace the speakers?
If you can give me the steps and where to find the part,,, I would be really grateful....
    Thanks.

Finding the part is easy. Taking your Nuvi apart isn't and I wouldn't recommend it unless you have the proper tools to do so.

I haven't had the opportunity to try to second source an internal speaker (1.3" - low profile) for the Nuvi. Have you tried listening through the headphone jack? Is the sound ok there? If it is ok, then you do probably have a bad speaker.

If it sounds bad there too, then it isn't your speaker.

The headphone jack contains an electrical switch that switches the sound from the speaker to the headphone jack. This means the same audio output stage that drives your speaker, also drives the headphone jack.

So, if your sound is bad in both the speaker and headphone jack, then the problem is in the audio output stage.

If the problem is only present while using the internal speaker, then indeed the speaker is at fault.

I need more info... try listening to the sound through the headphone jack. Is it ok there?

Also, the internal speaker has a 2 position plug on it that plugs into the motherboard. A new speaker will probably not have wires (blue/black) attached to it, therefore you'll have to unsolder the wires from the bad speaker and move them over to the new one.

Also, taking apart the Nuvi requires the right tools. You also take a risk in damaging the internal flex cables. There's three of them.

Let me know if you would like for me to fix this for you. I'll try to locate a replacement speaker for you. I also have a modification for the power switch issue. Info about that can be found in this forum. Contact me at ks3r at sharc dot net.

I have my garmin nuvi 350 on max volume control and still have difficulty hearing prompts is there a secret way i can override and increase the volume even more?

Maybe you speaker is defective. have you tried plugging in a set of headphones and listening if the audio is louf throgh the headphones?

There is ano secret way to do what you are asking. While there is a way to change the volume for the voice within the voice file, you need a hex editor do this and it's beyond the scope of this forum.

Nuvi 350 will come on but will not stay on

The internal batteries are not user replaceable. Please don't try to do this yourself. I've received numerous emails from people who have destroyed the Nuvi attempting to do this. I have replaced numerous Nuvi batteries. The life of the battery depends on how many cycles its gone through.

Sound Breaks up on my GPS if I raise Speaker over medium

Try listening with headphones rather than the internal speaker. If you can hear the sound in the headphone jack clear with the volume all the way up, then the internal speaker is bad.

Nuvi 350 Garbled voice

How is the other sound? Like MP3 sound? Is it garbled there? Try using headphones. If the sound is good there, then your internal speaker is bad.
