Most covers hold themselves in place. You may have to pry it a little harder. It could have rust around the edges and will not come out easy.

My dual marine radio will only allow the volume to go up to 27 then cuts off. why?

Hi Charlene
This sounds very much to me like a speaker impedance issue.
The first thing I would check is the impedance (ohms) of your speakers. These are usually 8 ohms, but may be 4. If 4 ohms is the case, then your receiver is cutting out to prevent letting the smoke out of it. Eight ohm speaker replacement will fix the problem.

Hope this is helpful

My uniden Hand held VHF will not recieve messages but it will send massages.

Did you check the speaker?, remove both speaker wires then check the speaker to see if you get 8ohm from pin to pin on the speaker. Good luck.

I have a clarion m455a marine raidio in our new boat. It has two cmrc3d remote control stations. niether one of them work. Why

Sorry I can't help you...but wanted to let you know you are not alone. I bought a 2007 Chap last March and have the same problem. I've covered all the basic/common sense troubleshooting but can't get them to function. My frustration is that the displays work so the clock/radio station is displayed but nothing in regards to controlling the deck.

Speaker out

You will need to take the face off the radio and replace the speaker. I would recommend taking the radio to a marine electronics shop unless are comfortable with soldering. The speaker will need to be taken out and replaced with a similar speaker.

It sounds like your speaker has failed. I would recommend replacing the speaker. You can take the radio to a marine electronics repair shop for the repair and it should be about $75 - $100. If you have any other problems please email me: You can always send it to me and we can repair it at my shop.

Not receiving information

The same thing happened to me, and I'm just hitting the two-year mark with this thing. I tested it using the aux speaker leads and that still works. So it is only the little front-panel speaker that is broken. And I checked the leads on that little speaker, and they seem fine. So it is the little speaker itself that broke. Easiest repair is to connect the aux leads (red and brown) to another speaker.

Radio works on tech bench, not in the boat

Yes, the yellow wire is the switched hot lead - it is typically connected in one way or another to the ignition switch. There is also a smaller gauge red wire that is connected directly to the battery (through a fuse of course). Both of these wires have to have power for the radio to work. Also the black wire has to be connected to a good ground. If all three of these wires are confirmed to be in good order (power where there should be power, ground where there should be ground and no shorts) the radio should at least power up when they are all hooked up and the ignition is on.
