One of my Adam A5X speakers suddenly started making an annoying sound. it can be described as a hum in the middle freqquencies. I would guess it has something to do with the wiring? I will contact the shop I bought them from tomorrow. Fredrik, Stavanger, Norway

Unplug the audio cable to it... IF hum persists, possibly a filter capacitor in the power supply has failed.. If it is quiet with no audio connected, look for bad cable or improper grounding such as running these from different receptacles in your facility.

The amp gets power, however the speaker emits a constant whining sound

Sounds like the output capacitors are breaking down, or you have a faulty pickup causing feedback, this can also be caused by bad cables close to ac power causes hum and distortion.

Crate club 50 15 inch speaker developes a tremolo sound mildly after tubes warm up

I am Going to do a little guessing. I am not a speaker pro by no means. but i have been using them my whole life.. as a fellow musician. i've run into this half a dozen times. each was different. so you say tremelo effect. could you describe as a harmonic vibration as well." if so look for anything (start w/ the speaker and work your way out) your looking for things like a loose nut or bolt. the speaker should not wobble or move at all. look for separation in the speaker cone and diaphram. then work your way out.. your looking for anything can potentially rattle, and usually against something . check around the tube mount, be careful. dont want it getting broke or you electrified.either that, or turn your effects off. just kidding. gtood luck

Mixing board hum

AC hum comes from poor grounding of components.

Speaker humms only. what causes that?

Incorrect connections or volume settings.

• In powering up, mixer first then amp

• In turning off , amp first then mixer

If hum still persist, without the mixer connected

then speaker amp may need servicing.

Loud buzz/hum started on jbl eon 1500 powered speaker one side only after power cut off and sudden power back on makes same noise on it`s own as well as with mixer etc could this be a transformer...

For some reason the soft on protection circuit has failed. it is not a simple fix and would require the amplifier module to be removed from the speaker to assess the damage.

Adam a7x same box with defferent fuse, why?

do you mean you got a new one and it just has a different fuse? if so you may have already got a newer model or older model where the pc board inside has differnt "Revisions". just meaning the designers changed a thing here or there such as rev. a or rev. b. shouldn't be a big deal but it does state you do not have identical speakers hence they may also filter sound differently.

I've got a Adam A5X studio monitor. the problem is that fuse blows after about 15 sec. it works but you can hear background hum and the transformer gets very hot in 15 sec. then fuse blows. i wonder...

Transformers RARELY fail. It is likely that either one side of the amplifier has shorted or there is a failure in the rectifier/filter circuit of the power supply. Take it for repair unless you are adept at electronic repair. Do NOT continue to replace the fuse as you MAY cause futher damage. Use a 25 or 40 watt lamp in series with your power cord to limit current while troubleshooting.

Our Yamaha YDP223 has an issue with the damper pedal. When it is depressed, the notes (F#, G) in the upper ranges make a high pitched, annoying sound as the note dies away. We were dealing with this sound...

All sound is generated digitally and the pedal doesn't modify the sound, it just sustains the generator. This is a strange problem and best suggestion iis to find another unit and compare... it may be a characteristic of the design. There isn't anything that you can do to change this. It could be there is a bad ground inside the unit or the digital data is corrupt in the processor. The fact that it is on a particular set of notes is strange...I just checked on my Yamaha piano that is essentially the same electronics and I notice that on one octave above the middle when one strikes F# and G they "ring out". Now this MIGHT be due to the characteristics of the speakers. Those particular notes seem to clash more. I don't have other speakers on mine and unfortunately you did not mention what brand model you have attached. Consumer grade speakers like fancy stereo speakers do NOT do well on these instruments. One has touse pro grade speakers AND use proper interconnecting cables. The speakers, powered type, must be powered from the SAME receptacle as the piano to avoid ground loops.
