Hi,

It is not necessary to unplug, but it must be powered off. Basic steps then would be:

  1. Turn your DSL modem off.
  2. Locate, on the back of your Linksys router, the small button that reads Reset
  3. Press, and hold, the Reset button down for 30 seconds.
  4. Wait for your Power, WLAN and Internet light to turn on. (On the router)
  5. Turn your DSL modem back on.
  6. Open your web browser to see if you have an internet connection. If you still don't have an internet connection you may need to restart your computer.
Some tips:
  • When pressing the Reset button down make sure you don't release the button until you are sure if has been compressed for 30 seconds or more.
  • If you continue to have trouble with your internet the contact your local internet provider.
  • This will erase your configuration, so if you have previously opened ports for gaming, they will be blocked again. Try unplugging, then plugging the Linksys back in for the same effect without erasing the configuration.
  • Depending on what service provider you use, if your router's IP address has changed during the reset, it may take up to 24 hours for their servers to recognize this change and assign you a new IP address. During this time your connection will show as "limited or no connectivity."
  • On most Linksys routers your username/password combination becomes empty (no username) / with password "admin" (without the quotes).
  • The default settings for most routers is DHCP, NAT, or some other form of automatic IP addressing. Take this into consideration if you've changed your router's settings to assign static IP addresses.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

How to restore a new password wireless?

Most Wireless access points have a hidden button at the back in a hole where you can insert a bent paper clip. Holding the button in for up to ten seconds resets the wireless router to its defaults. The password is then set to the manufacturers default which you can search for online.

Try this:

add "admin" as the password.

If this does not work then try this:

Instructions
    • 1 Unplug all cables from the router except the power cable. Power on the router.
    • 2 Locate the reset button. This is typically a small hole marked "Reset."
    • 3 Insert the straightened end of a paper clip or the point of a ballpoint pen into the hole. Press and hold for about 10 seconds. Lights will blink, indicating that the unit is rebooting.

I need to reset pasword cause cant get in to set up wirless

Restore Factory Settings reset_wireless_router_password_settings.jpg As shown in the image above, insert the tip of a pen or a paper clip into the 'reset' hole, push the button for 5 seconds or more, make sure the power is on for the router. For confirmation of resetting the router to default settings, you should be able to see all of the router's LED flashes or blinks, on certain models the router would restart itself.
When you're done, access the router with the default username and password as stated in your user manual

I forgot my password how can i reset it and make a new one

The password would be blank/admin/smcadmin by default. Blank password implies that you need to click on login without giving any input.

But, if you have set a password on your own and not able to recollect it, try resetting the router.

To reset router do this.

You will have to use a paper clip or a similar pointed object to do the reset procedure.

Hard reset: Insert the paper clip to the reset button and hold it down for 15 seconds, while the paper clip is still in unplug the power cord that goes in to the router, now wait for 15 more seconds and then give the power supply back to the router, again wait for 15 more seconds and finally let the clip go. You will see the router's LEDs flashing. If this happens it means that we have successfully completed the reset.

Wireless access point Pda 1360

To perform a reset, please follow the steps below:

Step 1 With the unit on, place a paper clip into the hole on the back on the unit labeled Reset
Step 2 Hold paper clip down for 10 seconds and release.

Note: Do not repower unit during this procedure.

Step 3 The unit will reboot on its own. Once the WLAN light stops blinking, the unit is reset.

Note: Resetting the router does not reset the firmware to an earlier version. It will change all settings back to factory defaults including IP address, username and password.

How do I reset password on my gateway 2 wire?

Straighten a Norwegian paper-clip,
and insert the end into the small hole in the back of the 2WIRE, to "reset" the unit to its "factory" settings, including the "default" ID/password.

Then, reconfigure your wireless network.
