Question about Acer AL1714 17" LCD Monitor

Acer Al 1714. LED light is blinking (orange not green).Monitor black.

Hi there. Before I subscribe my problem, sorry for my bad english, but I'll give my best.

I have an Acer AL 1714 for about 2 years now. Last days something strange happened. I just switched on my powerbar and my computer started already. But the screen of my LCD didn't. It still was black and the LED light blinked fast in an orange colour.. the big thing, between the cable from the computer, and the cable to the monitor, i think it is called transistor? its' LED light is blinking too in green. When I take off the cable from the monitor, the transistor stops blinking and it lights without a break. But when i connect the cable again to the monitor, it starts blinking again.. cant help myself :(

Thanks and I'm looking forward to reading some answers maybe..

You need a new power adapter, most likely.

ACER AL 1717 monitor. The on/off button is flashing green and orange, but the monitor is not turning on. I have checked all the connections. It blinks even if the connection from CPU is not given to it.

It sounds like you have a bad capacitor on your power circuit board located inside the monitor. If you take the cover off the monitor, you will see a circuit board where the power cord plugs in.On the board, look for 1 or 2 capacitors that are swollen or opening at their tops. They will usually be black in color with silver on top and round in shape. If you see any bad ones and have a solder iron and solder removal hardware, you can easily replace the capacitor(s) yourself, which you will find replacements at Radio shack or your nearest electronics repair shop.......good luck :)

Trying to connect a laptop acer aspire 5542g to an acre monitor al 1714, is this possible? As the monitor is showing just a blank screen with the green light steady. Was working 30 minutes ago on my mates...

Good Day,

This is possible there is supposed to be a switch on your laptop keyboard to make this easy

To activate hot keys, press and hold the lt Fn gt key before pressing the other key in the hotkey combination

you should see it in either blue or orange after pressing the FN key and that key together you will see the monitor switch

When I plug in the Acer monitor, it does not turn on. The LED light (that indicate whether the monitor is on (green) of off(orange)) just blinks. There is also a very faint 'clicking' sound.

in most cases the fault is not the monitor its the computer in some cases its due to dirty ram slots (clean them reinsert ram) in the worst case its your cpu

check your computer with another monitor then confirm its the pc have it looked at

I have an Acer AL 1914 Monitor. Green light

Check power supply section for bad caps first.
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, blown fuses, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed ACER monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

My dell monitor turns on for 2 seconds then goes black and the green light blinks orange

I assume that you already try this monitor on another PC to verify that the problem is in the monitor, in this case you need to open it up and inspect the fuse, transitors, solder connections on the power/inverter board, see failed Dell monitors here for guide: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further.

Monitor Acer Al 1914, no signal

Check your connections to the PC. Make sure that they are nice and secure. If there is a resolution problem setting it should display the boot process and then go blank after starting the operating system.

Pl2010m orange standby light, black screen

Try booting the pc in safe mode (press f8 at startup). It may be possible that the pc is trying to send too high a resolution to the monitor...unlikely though. The symptom you describe usually indicates that the power board or the inverter board in the monitor are defective. If it does the same thing in safe mode, you have 2 options.

1. Replace the power board and inverter board (do the inverter board first.......it's the cheaper one (10-20 dollars).
2. Send the monitor back to the seller for a refund, or get a new monitor.

Sorry I couldn't give you more positive feedback. Hope this helps.

Acer One 1542 series.Power on but not boot.

since you reseated the memory, the last two things I would do is remove the hard drive and dvd drive.

If you remove those and you can't get video then the motherboard is bad.
