He is probably right. As I have said from the beginning, I know nothing about wind crest. The parts I installed last year, were the one's provided to me by the windcrest tech, and were ordered by model number, and were for LP gas at 11" of pressure. So they should have been correct, and they included an LP conversion kit, that had not been installed originally. It seems to me that Wind Crest is a bit "fly by night". the parts installed were:
    10792.00 Burner Base 18.5 01-036-366-01
    10816.00 Screw 18.5 M4 X8 17-000-003-01
    10787.02 Electrode 18.5 01-044-016
    10923.00 Spring Electrode 18.5 15-000-120
    10786.01 Clip for Electrode 21-000-002-02
10692.00 FIELD LP CONVERSION KIT CTG305D
The igniter clicking is, as I remember, from a different burner. It should not be effected, but I may be wrong. It really should be dealt with by someone trained on WindCrest, but I doubt that there is anyone around here.

Do you still think the jet is too large if it is the one supplied to us by the company?

The valve/control knob for the center burner has been fitted with a jet that is too large for the size of the burner and the gas pressure coming to your cooktop. My guess is that they forgot to change it with the one rated for the pressure of your gas supply during the first install of the unit.
The clicking is caused by the damage done to the igniter - the flames have damaged its insulation and now it gets constantly triggered.
The damage done to the cooktop is very high, it's unsafe to use in this condition. To fix it a real repairman (not the ones you have used up until now) will have to install a smaller jet - the one that should have been installed from the beggining, replace the igniter and readjust everything. Because of the extent of the damage i strongly recommend you to call another repairman as soon as possible.

    OK.

  • Azrael SRL Jun 25, 2011

Yes, the jet is definitely too large - either the one for NG is still there (the one who made the install of the kit forgot about it) or it's the wrong one. If you can't source the correct jet you will have to try to use the one for the right rear burner - they are close in size. The igniter could have been damaged and the clicking to occur at another burner - this is why you must test the entire system. The parts for it appeart to be the correct ones, maybe they were fitted incorrectly.

Most likely the original jet is still in the unit - it wasn't changed with the one in the conversion kit.

Miele HR1124 cooktop - turning one burner on keeps igniter clicking for all 4 burners.

It is a gas appliance and it is a Miele, so you need a registered gas technician to service it. In my experience, the spark igniters work on all burners. To clean the burners, remove them all and put them in a large saucepan. Add cold water and dish liquid, bring slowly to a simmer and turn off. When cold, rinse and scrub with a plastic pot brush, paying particular attention to holes and slots. This was a job we did in the restaurant every week. It is a good plan to do before you go to bed for the least disruption.

The product specs says;

Automatic re-ignition
Sealed burners

M Pro Dual Stacked Burner System

So perhaps my hack won't work if they aren't removable.

Control knob doesnt adjust flame height?

Use a manometer to insure lp gas pressure is correct. The regulator for the stove may need adjusting. The air mixture adjustment may not be correct for PL as well.

I have a GE JGP932 gas cooktop. All 4 igniters are

All four a supposedto spark....most ranges are like that. Check for, in order and only as far as you're comfortable:

1. Partially closed gas valves
2. Kinked/twisted flex connector
3. Blockage in tubing (grease buildup is pretty common - blowing through it often works)

4. Clogged inlet screen on regulator. N.B. Only do this if you're confident you can reassemble it safely as it must be done safely and correctly. If not taken apart carefully, you may warp/bend a key component. If not reaasembled correctly you could have a gas leak.

Good Luck.

Viking Gas Burner issue?

is this a sealed burner unit? if so the burner base (the heavy brass part under the burner cap) has to be sitting just right. you will notice that it has holes around the the sides make sure that where your ignitor sparks to it that it aligns with the lowest hole on the burner base. if you have a great flame all around the burner after checking what i mentioned i would replace the spark module. if it continues to drive you crazy with the noise - just unplug it. the burners will continue working fine without power.

Burner temperature is always on high heat even at low setting

not related any further then sounds as if you have 2 burner switches gone bad,and actually the front right burner is controlled by a electronic control circuit board part retails for about $160-$200 part number 12002723, and left rear switch about $30 part number 74007841 . uint needs to be uninstalled from counter and parts changed by removing the bottom panel

Gas cook top

Most of the time when I come out for a service call with this problem, it is usually because the burner cap is not seated properly on the base. Look at the burner and make sure there are no uneven gaps. Most of the time you will have to rotate the burner cap till a notch or pin "seats" into place. Most burner caps just sit on the bases, and so they get knocked off or moved when the cooktop is cleaned or installed. Hope this helps!
