Question about Toshiba 43H71 43" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Replacing IC's Thank you Terry, I will try to find out what the local repair shop charges for this task - thanks to you I will not sound as ignorant as I would have prior and hopefully therefore will not get taken to the cleaners for it. What would you say would be a reasonable charge by a repair shop for doing this? Again, Thanks for your help!

Green, yellow and blue images are not converging.

Try adjusting the convergence. If it won't move see below- (or hitting Magic Focus for some Hitachi’s)

This sounds like convergence output IC problem. convergence board would have to be removed - remove and replace 2 STK IC's and check the surrounding resistors. Shops usually $200-$400 Be sure to vote/rate me if this helped Thanks!

Your symptom sounds like a faulty capacitor in the vertical deflection circuit.
What you are seeing is called vertical fold-over.
If you want to fix this yourself and are handy with a soldering iron, it is not that difficult. Just look for a 1uf capacitor near the vertical IC. The vertical IC will be a black IC with straight legs mounted to a heat sink, generally in the center of the circuit board.
Note: Be careful when working on a television as the CRT and other capacitors can hold a charge that can be very dangerous.

I would recommend that you contact a local service center and see if you can get a quote for the repair. I would normally charge between $120.00-130.00 for this type of repair. The cost may vary depending on where you are located.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue.

Hi, the convergence IC`s have failed and possibly a few resistors, unless your very proficient at soldering and un-soldering this is not a repair a layperson can do. Besides replacing the shorted parts there is an alignment procedure that must be done once the IC`s are replaced. To give you a "rough" idea we charge $246 for this model set, different geographical locations will charge different amounts so my charges may not be relevant in your area, hope this helps, video-tek

Power light flashes 3 times

depending on your model you will most likely need two. most people will want to charge about 400 to 600 dollars sad but true. if you know someone that can solder and de-solder, that will be your best bet. A repair shop will charge alot and it takes an experienced person about 40 minutes , a novice maybe an hour but its actually a easy repair if you can solder.

Hitachi 43FDX15B Convergence Failed

You will need to order part no. CZ01341. This is the output ic. There are 2 of them, replaced them both. The numbers that are printed on the old part will not match the new part, do NOT take this to hart. It is a modification that you are putting in. You should be able to do this your self. I would charge 350.00. The set is not worth much, not working. Maybe 100.00
