Question about Minka -Aire Brushed Nickel Remote Control Fan MIA F518-BN
I have two Minka Aire remote controlled ceiling fans in the house. The remotes are programmed identically so when my son operates his fan or light, it affects the one in my room. I can find the pins in the remote to change the configuration, as instructed in the manual but I can't find the receiver in the fan to make the same changes. The owners manual doesn't tell you where it is. Where is the receiver on the fan? Thanks
I have a newer Minka w/ wall controller. The books says to make sure both the wall control and the receiver(up in the fan) are both programmed the same. My receiver has no little switches but has a sticker stating that you need to hold the 'fan off' button down for 3 seconds after turning on the power so the receiver can memorize the program in the wall switch. You have 60 sec to do this after power is turned on. Good luck !

I have the same problem, except I live in a multi unit condo where many of the occupants own the same fan! You can imagine how frustrating this is when your fan or light comes on or you can't agree on a fan speed. Anyway, I spoke to a MinkaAire customer service guy and he tells me that the switches in the receiver are located under the mounting ring. You need to unscrew the ring and it should be located in there. I haven't tried this myself as my fan has a mind of its own as I type and everytime I turn it off to unscrew the mounting ring, the damn thing turns on again.

A friend of mine with the identical fan only had to have the remote configured. Have you tried that? And isn't it a bit ridiculous to expect the owner to have to take the whole fan apart?

You have to disconnect the power lead of one of the units. Then use the stop button to program the one fan/light. Disconnect the fan's power lead that you just programmed and set different dip switch of the next fan. Connect it's power lead and program it. Reconnect the first fan and they will both work with their respective controllers
