I cant connect to my linksys router - Linksys Computers & Internet

By default, the router has a SSID ID of 'linksys', with *NO* security, and *NO* password. Configure the router to enable security, and to set the SSID and to set a password.

Run an Ethernet cable from one of the LAN ports on the downstairs router to connect to the WAN port on the upstairs router. Result: 100% connection.

I think you should check the wireless settings of your router first.
If your wireless network is secured then make sure that you have the correct wireless network key WEP / WPA .
If your router is too old then it will be better to upgrade the firmware of your Linksys router.

you may alway contact the manufacturer of your router for help. the reason wy you are getting the problem is because the wireless settings of your computer and router do not match.

if this is DSL connection then you have to configure your modem before you connect router

follow this
first disabled wireless on your modem/router

.1) Turn off DHCP on your modem/router I am assuming this is verizon westell
2. Configure the first VC port to Bridge-Bridge mode
3. Keep hitting "apply" in the windows until the 7500 reboots
4. Plug the "Internet" port on the linksys to one of the normal ethernet ports on the modem /router
5. Turn on the Netgear and wait for the green Internet light to go solid

Reset the modem while the router is plugged into it. Do this by disconnecting the power to the modem and then reconnecting.

Linksys routers do not require any software to be installed on a PC. What model Linksys do you have?
