Black screen w/ my sony bravia KDL-40V4100 and it will turn on, but there is no picture or sound. I was told it could be a possible issue w/ the kdl 40s4100 board, but I'm not entirely sure. I've taken it apart and it seems to 'look' fine, but its still does the same thing. 1. I've done troubleshooting w/ Sony and they're useless 2. The company I bought it form says my warranty wont cover this and to go get a phone book (literally the ***** said that) So I dont know how to solve my issue of; My black screen w/ my sony bravia KDL-40V4100 and it will turn on, but there is no picture or sound.

SOURCE: Sony Bravia TV automtaically goes on standby.

Probably the main board. This has a 1 year mfc parts and lobor warr. I would contact Sony for the nearest auth servicer. If you open it you will void the warranty.

If you have the led light on, then you need to replace the mainboard.

If no led light then replace the powerboard.

SOURCE: SONY BRAVIA KDL-40s4100 is not working right

Please check whether the connections are secured between the TV and the connected devices.

If the television is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from the power strip or surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet. If the issue is resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the television.

Try connecting the TV to a different wall outlet and check if that helps.

Please connect a different device to the TV and check whether the issue persists.

If the issue still persists service of the TV is determined.

SOURCE: My Bravia KDL-40S4100 lost all 3 of it's HDMI

There is a problem with the processor. The only way to resolve this issue is to replace the main board. It is called the A board in your TV.

There are two for this model and the correct one will depend on what your serial number is.

Part numbers are as follows:
part # 185709211 for Serial #
1,000,001 - 1,350,000
1,700,001 - 1,750,000
1,800,001 - 1,804,270
1,804,271 - 1,818,372
1,818,373 - 1,830,000
list price: $504.87 core charge: $680.00

part # 185709231 for all other serial numbers
list price: $505.87 core charge: $600.00

Testimonial: "Thanks, Now I wonder who all shares the same problem and if Sony is willing to do something about their defective products..."

Looking at a negative screen

Sony Bravia KDL-40V4100 models have a problem with the screen going blank, faded or washed out ( negative ghosting) . It is caused by a bad chip on the T-con board. A replacement chip is available from shopjimmy.com (Sony 55.40T02.C08 T-Con Board Component Repair Kit) for $14.95- If your not an excellent solderer, send your board to them for a repair $69.95.

I have a Sony KDL-40V4100, constantly hearing clicking noises

Could be the power board or main board defective, but I suggest you do firmware update first. Go to http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=KDL42V4100&LOC=3#div_pos_30 download the software.

Sony bravia kdl 46s4100 no picture

it sounds like your back light might be going out. You might be able to fix this by installing a new backlight inverter board.

Sony bravia KDL-40V4100 audio and picture cycling on and off

I'd say about the blinking to a black screen would be your cable provider. As for the stripes that means that your board panels can be going bad, you can try updating the firmware of the TV to help but if that doesn't work you're getting very close to full failure on the TV.

On Sony Bravia KDL-S40A12U screen occasionally turns black for a couple of seconds. Only happens on the HDMI channel. Sound still works, but no picture?

Possibly source issue(Box/Satt). Some HD boxes do not have very good HDMI processors or the actual program source feed may be faulty. HD sources are still not 100% efficient
