Something went wrong with my pdf reader. I wanna convert pdf to text first. Any suggestion will be appreciated. Thanks in advance. How about this one?

By the way, if you can get Omnipage to convert it into a csv file it will import into excell as long as the end of line is marked. You might be able to write a VB script to get it to mark it if it doesn't.

paulwinford says:
hi
Bubbabear64 says:
This is easy
Bubbabear64 says:
Does Omnipage support pdf?
paulwinford says:
it seems to
Bubbabear64 says:
It would be clear on the box if they did
Bubbabear64 says:
You just want to scan to PDF?
paulwinford says:
it is. i can load the .pdf file ( its a bank statement) the run the ocr process then select an ouput type but the file does not come out in a form that has enough info to be usefull
Bubbabear64 says:
Hmmmm.
paulwinford says:
it comes out as a .csv file currently
Bubbabear64 says:
really
paulwinford says:
because i selected that option.
Bubbabear64 says:
I got a few customers out there looking for something like this
paulwinford says:
my goal would be to be able to scan this 54 page .pdf file and extract the line items into an excell spread sheet
Bubbabear64 says:
Usually PDF is nothing more than a fancy graphics file format that Adobe like to charge people bick bucks to work with.
paulwinford says:
each line item is three lines thick and has transaction numbers and
Bubbabear64 says:
ok
paulwinford says:
ammounts and stuff all in collumns but how do i create that into a spreadsheet
Bubbabear64 says:
Doesn't Adobe make something to do this with?
Bubbabear64 says:
ok
paulwinford says:
?
Bubbabear64 says:
I was looking at this PDF Converter 5 on Nuancestore.
paulwinford says:
i could look ? can I log back into a chat session layter?
Bubbabear64 says:
Says that it converts PDF files into fully formatted Excel spreadsheets
paulwinford says:
I tried that one and it did not pickup any txt in my pdf file
Bubbabear64 says:
I wonder if OCR is a good idea.
paulwinford says:
it says that this image contains no text
Bubbabear64 says:
Bummer
paulwinford says:
but omnipage picks up the txt
Bubbabear64 says:
yes
paulwinford says:
but how do i get it into the table format ?
Bubbabear64 says:
but the problem with Acrobat is that text isn't text, it's graphics
Bubbabear64 says:
What you need is a program that will convert it into text. It will probably work with an Adobe program
Bubbabear64 says:
Lets see
paulwinford says:
yep thats where the ocr comes into play and the sophistication of each software package like omnipage may or may not work
Bubbabear64 says:
.com
Bubbabear64 says:
I'm looking some stuff up here
Bubbabear64 says:
What version of Excel are you using?
paulwinford says:
FYI. this .pdf file is truely an image. it was nor created with ( adobe) it was scanned from a minolta copier which uses a license from adobe to convert scanned images to .pdf files
paulwinford says:
excell 2003
Bubbabear64 says:
Youre in luck, Im an NEC dealer
Bubbabear64 says:
which makes copiers for Minolta
Bubbabear64 says:
which model are you using?
paulwinford says:
konica minolta ??? we cal it the 501.
Bubbabear64 says:
Have you tried using Tiff on the copier to scan in?
paulwinford says:
no do you think that would help with the OCR?
Bubbabear64 says:
It might because Word can convert it into OCR that way.
Bubbabear64 says:
Have you ever used the Microsoft scanner software?
paulwinford says:
are there any special instructions to open a .tif file with work besides right click on the file and open with (word) ?
paulwinford says:
yeah ive used that software
paulwinford says:
i'm a network admin FYI
Bubbabear64 says:
I used to work with this file format for Microsoft projects.
Bubbabear64 says:
Me too
Bubbabear64 says:
There shouldn't be
paulwinford says:
ok i'll try .tif format and MSword 2003
Bubbabear64 says:
I did this once where I took a set of labels, scanned them and converted them into an Excel file.
Bubbabear64 says:
ok
Bubbabear64 says:
It may slip up a bit but it can be corrected
paulwinford says:
