Card locked, but card works fine in other camera's / laptop/
They want $79 to repair this $179 camera under warranty?

Make sure you are using Toshiba, Panasonic, Sandisc. Those are the only 3 brands Casio recommends using. Make sure that lock on card is moved all the way into the unlock position.

Memory card error message on a canon powershot A700

On an SD card there is a switch at the side which can be moved to protect the card contents (locked) or permit writing to the card (unlocked). Just move this to the unlocked position.

I have had this camera for two years and never had a problem. Now when I switch it on the screen shows the message, " Memory card is write protected" and the camera will not function.

On the memory card is a slide lock that locks the card from being accidentally written to or erased. embossed with a lock that is unlocked/locked.
Somehow this slide lock has been moved to the write protection mode/locked. Could have happened if you removed the memory card lately.
Remove the memory card and slide the lock to unlock reinstall the card and that should cure your problem.

Memory card locked

And you looked if the card was locked?
The 64GB card is unlocked the 32 GB card is locked. So make sure the switch is up when you see your card like these two.
When you are sure your card is unlocked, just check if all contacts of the card and in the camera are still clean, shiny, and straight. (no bent in any contact)

Telling us that the memory card is locked. Older camera so we no longer can find the instruction manual. Has been working fine. Have removed the card and all that still says Card Locked in red across...

1. Make sure the slide switch on the side of the card is "unlocked". 2. Go into the camera menu and find "reset" to get back to factory default settings. 3. If you can't find "reset" do this....remove the card and battery...press every button...leave the camera alone for 20 minutes...insert the card and then the battery....turn it on.

I have a casio Exilim camera.when I turn on the screen reads 'The card is locked' There is no instructions in the manual to cover this event. Can you advise anything? Many thanks.

Take the card out of the camera, and along the side of it, there is a small slide switch. Move it to the unlocked position, and try again. This is a common thing, card come from the manufacturer with the lock applied, and they assume everyone knows about them.

Card Locked

There is probably a little slide on the side of the card that locks it. Take the card out and slide it back to the unlocked position.

Card locked

Not sure what kind of card it is but let me talk about SD. If you look at the left side of the disk when the label is facing you and upright, you should see a little slider. In one position it is locked. Slide it to the opposite side and it is UNLOCKED.
