SOURCE: asus eee pc 1005hab will turn on but will not boot

I have an Asus Eee pc 2g surf. I inadvertently installed a bios 2008 upgrade and cannot provide a password and cannot get beyond this page. Assus techs cannot provide it without an invoice and I have none as it was a gift. Any solution? I have taken out the battery, pressed f2, shift f10 ( which gets me to a screen "Atheos Boot Agent Configuration Agent" but not sure how this will help)

Asus eee 900 disk hardware configuration

Have you checked BIOS settings to make sure the right harddisk is selected as Boot Drive ?

You could try installing it on another machine to make sure it's still readable.

Did you change any settings or get any error messages the last time you used it ?

Asus stops in bios

When it stops booting, does it ask you to do something, like enter the bios and set the date? If so, do so. If it keeps doing it, you probably need a new CMOS battery.

If it hangs with no clues at all, either your operating system is corrupt or your hard drive has failed. You need to be able to boot from another source ie external disk drive or USB drive.

What is the problem If the time and date will not hold

This means that your BIOS battery is flat/worn out and this is why it changes the date and time each time you boot up.
Replace the BIOS battery with a new one then boot up and go into the BIOS and set the correct Date and Time.

Your CMOS battery may be dead or dying, or just has been reset. It is a small watch-like battery that keeps track of the time and BIOS settings. Your BIOS settings may have been reset because the battery cannot hold enough of a charge to store the settings and time. Also, it could have just been manually reset in the BIOS settings. If you go into the BIOS settings, adjust your date and time, and the POST screen setting, and the settings stay that way, your battery is good and was just reset. If you change the settings and they reset again, you have a bad CMOS battery. If it is the battery and you need instructions to replace it, let me know.

My ASUS Eee PC 1005HA turned off by itself then when I turn it on again, a screen come up and said "press F2 or tab" but when i press each of them, nothing's happened. How can I fix that?

Hi I have almost the same problem as ame_91_ok with my Asus Eee Pc 1005Ha. It suddenly shut down a few days ago and ever since that time it boots the bios screen where you have to press F1 to enter setup or F2 to load with the default settings. If I press F1 I enter the bios setup and if I press F2 it's boots fine after that and it seems to work normally. Still I'd like to know what the problem is and if I can fix it before it might get worse. I don't know anything about bios settings or anything like that so I could really use some expert advise. Already tried updating my bios, I have the latest bios version now but that didn't fix the booting problem.

I have a asus Eee pc 904hd that will not boot up

Yes press f2 , this will take you to bios page. See if your date and time are correct. If it is NOT set them using the keypad mouse (Read)
then exit say yes for changings, see if windows loads,
After that if does it again, you need to replaced the CMOS battery.
