I have an Compac Presario V6000. Suddenly, the wireless card stopped working. I purchase a new one thinking it would solve the problem. It didn't. The cable company came to check it my connection and adivsed me that my computer does not show that I have a wireless card. The card has been checked to make sure it is connected.
I can connect to the Internet with the connection from the cable box or i can use NetGear if I need to be mobile.
Any hellp you can give will be greatly appreciated.

You don't need HP wireless assistant. You can remove it and enable windows zero wireless configuration to manage your wireless signal. Easier, and less complicated. Message me back to get instructions.
2 things to try: go back on the HP website and request assistance from tech support; or go on Google and ask what you need to do to activate the wireless LAN. Check what the network settings are on your laptop 1st.
Your statement is confusing but I guess what you need to do is download the latest firmware and update your wireless. Otherwise, I say get a PCI wireless card because your current wireless is defective even if you reformat the laptop.
