SOURCE: Computer does not show MP3 player as connected and how to stop a song playing

If you installed the firmware update, you might have forgotten to change the device to MSC mode.. try going to settings>USB mode>MSC This should probably work.. to stop a song while its playing, click the |<< button while you have the screen with the current song. (you can pause a song on this same screen with the >|| button) If you have gone back to any of the menu screens, wait for a couple seconds and the player will automatically go back tot he song display screen so you can stop the song.

SOURCE: Computer doesn't recognize MP3 player -

Comment by vickisanchez, posted on Mar 19, 2008 IT FINALLY WORKS !!!!

Sandisk Tech support had me do the following:

- Turn it OFF
- Put it in the HOLD position
- HOLD the center button IN while plugging into USB port, continue to hold for 5 to 7 sec even after plugged in.
At this point MY COMPUTER recognized it. And it worked.

He also had me to:

- go to WWW.MICROSOFT.COM
- In the upper right hand search bar, type in MTP PORTING KIT
I did this and downloaded the first one. Now my Sansa Clip work perfect. I wish I would have talked to him last week before I returned the last one, for the same reasons.

If this does not help call the 1-800 # , opt #4, and ask for GUY (yes that is really his name) out of 5 or so calls to Tech Support he is the only one who knew what he was doing, and how to actually HELP.
GOOD LUCK

SOURCE: My sandisk c240 charges when plugged in but fails to be recognized on the computer

There is quite possibly a problem with the USB cable or the USB port on the computer, but try this shortcut force to force the computer to recognize the Mp3 player: Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard

How do you charge my player Player will not play. Do you charge by plugging into any USB port?

yes, plugging it into a usb port (either through a wall charger or a computer) will start to charge the mp3 player. an indicator that it is charging should show up on the screen.

My son's mp3 stopped playing yesterday. We plugged it into the computer. There's no response from the player and no indication from the computer. the usb ports on the computer work.

Are you plugging it infront or at the back USB port of the computer? Try turning it off first and then plug at the back usb port. Once plugged in, that would be the time you turn the MP3 player on. If the computer still does not detect the mp3 player as new usb device, then i guess the mp3 player must have been fried due to not being "safely removed" from the usb port. Make sure you are safely removing ALL usb devices when disconnecting them from the computer.

How do i charge my sansa mp3?

  • Step 1:Plug the appropriate end of the USB link cable that came with your SanDisk MP3 player into the MP3 player itself. The port for this cable can be found on the right side of most models of SanDisk MP3 players.
  • Step 2:Plug the other end of the USB link cable into a free USB port on your computer. This will effectively connect your SanDisk MP3 player to your computer.
  • Step 3:Turn your computer on. This will cause your SanDisk MP3 player to automatically begin drawing power from the computer and charging its battery. On the screen, an indicator light will flash yellow while the player is charging.
  • Step 4:Disconnect the cable from both your MP3 player and your computer when the device has finished charging. You will be able to tell when the charge is complete when the indicator light that previously was flashing yellow appears as solid green.

Won't play back and is no longer recognised by my computer

Problem solved with my jensen SMP-1GBD MP3 player. I re-examined the instructions & followed them exactly as they were written, then the unit worked just fine. What I found out was that you first have to plug in the ear phones, then you have to hold down the "on", button for three full seconds before it will turn on. It was just a case of not following the proper procedures as written on page four under the "Power on/off ", section of the directions.

    Blocked Iriver X20

Yes, try running a format from your computer to the IRiver with it plugged into the USB port. I have done this with several friends MP3 players and it works great. In other words plug your MP3 player into your computer as you usually do and from windows or dos in your accessories run a regular format of the MTP portable device or whichever drive dos says it is. Then presto you can again load music or whatever your MP3 player take into it again.
