Windows xp

jblake certain basic Windows startup files are corrupted.
I suggest you use the Restoration Disk, and perform a Repair.

Non-Destructive Installation

This will repair the basic Windows files needed, and you will also have all of your personal information saved.

[ NOTE*
A Full Install, or Destructive Installation, will take the computer back to day 1 from the factory.

ANY programs, or applications put on the computer after Day 1, will be GONE. (Loaded by you or downloaded off of the internet)

All personal information is gone.
Documents you have created, or downloaded.
Photos, videos, and music ]

Don't have the Restoration Disk?

In the USA call 1-800-474-6836
24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
$17 for a 5 to 7 day ship, $24 for a 2 to 3 day ship.

Have the Serial Number of your computer handy. It's in the white Service Tag on the bottom of your computer. S/N = Serial Number

You may have a harddrive going bad. Suggest you perform the diagnostic test to see, (After the computer is up, and going),

I have taken a new G460, 2 days back I have put Windows 7 , 32 bit version. I have install the driver CD but camera is not working. When I click on the shortcut 4 camera it gives error turn on the camera....

Hi gulchan2002,

Based on your concern, I suggest trying the following steps:

1. Download the camera driver here:

2. After downloading, install the camera driver then restart your computer.

3. Log back in then press the FN+ESC to enable the camera.

4. If you still cant open the camera try installing the lenovo power management to activate the function key.
--> you can download it here:

5. After downloading, install the application then restart your computer. Try step 3 again.

If still experiencing the same concern, , I recommend to contact the technical support of Lenovo. They will set up a depot repair for you to diagnose the computer and to repair it completely. You may contact them at this number 1-877-4Lenovo (1-877-453-6686).
--> Hours of operation, 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

Hope it helps,

Thank you for using FixYa.

Ihave an minilaptop Acer One. My son install Windows 7. 3 days after it´s impossible start the machine. Sugestions. Thanks

If it's only been 3 days there probably isn't any important files on the machine, right?

If not, just reinstall Windows 7 again.

My previous hp computer crashed due to spyware infection. I manually back up my maxtor performed 3-4 days prior to infection. Will the Maxtor files be safe to download into my new computer?

Well since you've said that you computer crashed due to a spyware infection and that you backed up your maxtor some days to the infection, there is every likelihood that the maxtor will also be infected. My advice to you will be to first of all scan the maxtor file with a very strong anti virus before sending it to your new computer or else you will end up loosing your new computer if the maxtor file also contain the spyware infection.

DVD+RW DRIVE STOPPED WORKING

Try rebooting your computer. I have a similar desktop and sometimes after a period of use the drive seems to power down - if I shut down and start up again it seems to work again.

If this doesn't solve the problem, check the connections inside the computer to make sure the drive has the data cable and power cable connected securely.

If you bought the Inspiron 3 days ago, contact Dell for warranty service and a replacement. If you just bought the drive itself 3 days ago, take it back or return it to the retailer you bought it from for a replacement.
