a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

How to reboot

Then you need to use the Restoration Disk.
When asked choose Full Install. (Destructive Installation)

Don't have the Restoration Disk?
Advising from a USA standpoint;

The disk is free. The shipping and handling is not.
$17 for a 5 to 7 day ship, $24 for a 2 to 3 day ship.
Call 800-474-6836 - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Have the Serial Number written down, to give to the nice representative. This is found in the white Service Tag on the back of the computer.
S/N = Serial Number.

ONLY give to an authorized HP representative. Do NOT post on a worldwide forum such as this ]

For all counties use HP Support Worldwide,

IF I may, would like to ask what the disk price is in your country, if you are not in the US.

For additional questions please post in a Comment.

[When you perform a Full Install/Destructive Installation, the BASIC Windows files that came on your computer, are reinstalled.
The rest of the Harddrive is wiped clean.

You will be back to Day 1 as when the computer came from the factory ]

Either get the Restoration Disk, or a fresh, new Genuine copy of Windows.

Going by the US.
The disk is free. The shipping and handling is not.
$17 for a 5 to 7 day ship, $24 for a 2 to 3 day ship.
Call HP Support at 1-800-474-6836, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Have your Serial Number written down to give to the nice representative.
On the back of your computer next to the Windows product key, or up on the side of the computer tower, is a white Service Tag.
S/N = Serial Number.

This way that can make SURE they send you the correct disk.

For country's other than the US, use HP Support Worldwide,

When you get the Restoration Disk, turn the computer on, and put the disk in the optical drive.
When asked choose - Full Installation (Destructive Installation)

Remember, this will take the computer back to Day 1, when it came from the factory.

Programs, or applications you have installed, or downloaded = GONE
Photos, videos, music, personal documents = GONE

Takes it back to before you got the computer.

(Repair, or Non-Destructive Installation, repairs the basic Windows files, and leaves your personal stuff alone. However there are times the computer needs to have a Full Installation )

The Boot Manager is missing.

Caused by a failing Harddrive, OR if you were doing a Recovery, and halted it in the middle, whether on purpose, or by a power outage.

I suggest ordering the Restoration Disk/s from HP, for YOUR computer if you do Not have them.

Try rebooting your computer. I have a similar desktop and sometimes after a period of use the drive seems to power down - if I shut down and start up again it seems to work again.

If this doesn't solve the problem, check the connections inside the computer to make sure the drive has the data cable and power cable connected securely.

If you bought the Inspiron 3 days ago, contact Dell for warranty service and a replacement. If you just bought the drive itself 3 days ago, take it back or return it to the retailer you bought it from for a replacement.
