Question about Kenmore 44832 Front Load Washer

1 Answer

Kenmore goo/gunk I noticed a buildup of goo/gunk inside the gasket of the front door of the washer. at first i thought it somehow came from our well water. It smells like dirt, is gooey, brown, and just plain disgusting. I have been cleaning it out every couple weeks, which is when i notice a buildup. Does anyone know what this gunk is, and where does it come from?

Thank you anyway, NGFAM2, but the washer is running fine so I don't think I need service. I know that other people have the gunk in their washers, but I want to know what the gunk is and why does it build-up?

If it's a front load washer do not put to much soap in it!This can gunk it and cause the bearings and seal to go bad!
Follow the washer directions for detergent amounts.

Model WF7700N6W1 - front loader - smell? Rubber seal inside door peels back a bit to reveal buildup of gunk between seal and inside frame? retaining water here?

Ok, nothing to worry about. You have bacteria growing in your machine. Clean out the slime from the door seal using a soft cloth and soapy water. DON'T use any harsh chemicals such as bleach !
Remove your detergent drawer (if possible) and clean it thoroughly - a dishwasher will do this very well. Disconnect your machine from the power supply and clean thoroughly inside the space where the dispenser drawer was, using a toothbrush or larger nylon brush and a soft, soapy cloth.
Using liquid detergents all the time can cause a build up of residue over time, which gives the bacteria and mould somewhere to grow. So try a hot wash cycle (without a load) using a powder detergent intended for whites. Washing powders contain brighteners and chemicals which are hostile to mould and bacteria.
Finally, leave your dispenser drawer and loading door open every night to allow fresh air to circulate through the entire machine. This will reduce the number of cleaning occasions needed.

Samsung dishwasher sprays gunk all over my glasses. When the cycle is over they are coated with dried bits of gunk. Dishes are dirtier than when they went in.

I have the same problem with gunk and spots on dishes. I took apart the parts at bottom covering the heating element. There is all sorts of gunk on everything. I cleaned it all, even under gaskets and filter screen. I am neither sure what caused it nor how to prevent it. My thinking maybe the water source. Water in my town has gotten worse in quality and has bad smell. I use a major water filter system for drinking water. My thought is that the heating element is drying the water up and leaving sediment from water.

After a wash cycle, there is water sitting in the gasket around the door. This water smells after a few days. What is to be done?

Make sure the washer sits level front to back and side to side. Wipe away any water and leave the door ajar to let the inside dry out. If the whole washer insides smell, run an empty cycle with hot water, detergent, and baking soda to refresh. Hope this helps!

Smell from water remaining in grey seal

My GE washer model wcvh6400j0ww was leaking. May be standing water under your machine. The repair person thought the gasket. It turned out to be the water in-let pipe (WH41X10118 and you will need seal WH41X10119) and not the gasket. He ordered the gasket and took machine apart to replace and found cracked pipe. Take your machines front off and make sure it is the gasket leaking. Good Luck,

Awful smell! I drain it every cycle, I use the washer cleaner, everything! I am so sick of my towels smelling awful.

Sounds like the little flexible apron just in front of your washer drum has mildewed. Take a look and see if it is holding water, and look for mold while your'e at it. Use a good bathroom mold and mildew remover to kill the mess and deodorize it.

Maytag front load washer - smell musty

the water in the unit is normal, to kill the smell when you are done doing wash for the day dampen a rag with bleach and whip down the door gasket. You can buy a cleaner called "afresh" it works as well. If your unit is a neptune check with maytag it might have a recall on the door gasket for growing mould

Mold and bacteria in your door seal is a symptom of problems deeper inside the unit. All washers - not just Whirlpool, have this problem. The area of worst buildup is always on the inside of the plastic outer tub just above the normal waterline where suds and soiled water splash up and don't get rinsed out. To clean this problem area add 1 or 2 caps of smelly washer cleaner to a full load of laundry. The added bulk of the laundry will raise the water level to include the "splash area". Intermittently pause to soak more extreme cases.

Rubber piece

If you mean in the bottom of the gasket between the drum and the door the hole is to allow water to drain from the gasket to prevent standing water which will smell .

Mildew smelling towels and no separate rinse cycle

the problem is your door seal if you close the door after a wash then what happens is the water goes mouldy on the inside of the door seal what you need to do is replace the door seal you will never get rid of the smell without replacing it never close the door after a wash always leave it open to make sure its your seal the easy way is to look at the inner part of the seal and it will be mouldy only thing you can do
