SOURCE: MOUSE WHEEL

Download and install the latest driver/software for your mouse from the manufacturer's website. Once installed, you should be able to program the wheel through the software.

My mouse is messing up when i try to move it den its like a wall blocking it from moveing but if i shake it it can go bye help me asap

I am guessing by the nature of your problem that this is not an optical mouse, but one with a roller ball inside. On the bottom there is a wheel-like door with a hole in the center that holds the ball in. Turn this wheel counter clockwise and remove it. Remove the ball. Carefully with a dry cotton swab clean off the little wheels inside which record the movement of the ball. You may need to stick your finger in there to hold the wheel in place so the cotton swab can knock the gunk off. Take care to not let the gunk drop into the inner workings of the mouse, but if some does, it is not a tragedy, your mouse should start working like normal after the wheels are cleaned.

Curser doesn't move... on my Logitech Trackman Wheel - 3-btn Trackball - Wired For some reason my curser used to just drop to the bottom left of the screen during operation which was quite frustrating... I...

Sounds to be a hardware problem. especially if it would move by itself at times, now not at all.

Windows is detecting it correctly, right?

If so, then i would say time for a new one.

The ball movement isn't smooth, it sticks and jumps past the spot I want to click on.

You might have a dirty ball-holder. Reverse the trackman and hit with it your cupped hand, so that the ball gets out. You'll see a cavity with three round metal prongs and a square dark window. Clean the window with a cotton earbud and the prongs with a toothpick, then push gently the ball in place.

If this does not work, verify the area is free of radio interference and the trackman batteries are fully charged. Also try placing the transmitter at different distances and positions; sometimes the handshake between the units is quirky.

Lastly, verify your PC isn't overloaded and that's the cause of the sluggish mouse movements. Of course, if you "feel" a sticky mouse with your fingers, the cause will be mechanical - the first one. But just in case...

Kid trackball

A lot of trackball controlls made by Microsoft and Logitech use a optical system. Once the control on the screen doesn't move anymore, you simply remove the ball and clean the optics out of it.

If there is a way that you can remove the ball out of the control, all you have to do is clean the rollers underneath the wheel. After some time they do build up just like a friction mouse does. All it takes is some Qtips and a water alchohol solution.

I would hope for a kid trackball they made that a feature.

Microsoft Wireless Optical mouse 2.0 Sticky central wheel

I just took mine apart to fix same problem, works much better but not sure for how long.

Quite simple to dismantle the unit.

Take the battery cover off, remove batteries.
There is a small screw in the middle of the battery cavity, you will need a very small Phillips head screwdriver.
Gently ease the base (holding circuit board) from the top shell
The wheel unit can be gently eased out of its cradle, use the small screwdriver to pop it out, watch out for the small spring between base and wheel unit, don't lose it
You can disconnect the wheel unit from the circuit board by unhooking the small plug connector

Now defluff, then clean the wheel - I used a tiny amount of turps on a cloth, anything similar should work. If you look closely the reason the wheel won't roll smoothly is that the gel ring on the wheel is too close and rubs at the front and back of the cradle. Once grime builds up, this problem makes the wheel unusable. Roll the wheel back and forth along a clean surface once cleaned, should start rolling freely again.

I also unscrewed the top shell from the mouse buttons (all one piece, pinch the plastic pegs in the centre of the shell together to release) and cleaned the whole unit up before putting it back together

Don't forget the spring when putting the wheel unit back. When screwing the base to the top shell make sure there is no play between the two parts before you put the batteries back in, mine was a bit tricky to get tight again but worked fine second attempt

Stiff trackball rotation

Are you sure the metal support nubs have flattened? My experience has been that either they slowly sink into the plastic or that the upper and lower plastic nub supports wear down (which tends to make the ball loose in the carrier assembly). Either way, when the ball gets sticky for me I ensure the metal nubs and the sunken areas around them are clean, then clean the ball with water and find a soft cloth to buff the ball until it is not sticky.

If the metal nubs have indeed flattened you may wish to try removing them and putting them in with the flat side toward the plastic (so you have the round side facing out) - this is assuming they are completely round.

I wish I had a better answer for you. I've have several of the MS TB Optical and only one lasted for a more than a year or so (before the problems mentioned above cropped up). Sadly they are nearly impossible to find and usually very expensive if you can find a new one.

Now if I could only find a way to fix the sudden rapid up/down scrolling mine does occasionally. I've taken it apart and cleaned everything but it still does it :(
