Question about Symantec Norton AntiVirus 2002 8.0 for PC

1 Answer

Yesterday I shutdown my computer and came back to start it up again today and it is much much slower and responding very slowly. I was looking around to see what was going on and I realized that Norton was disabled but i cant find a way to get it back running its virus protections. (By the way, the computer asked me if I wanted to run Vista in safe mode and i did numerous disk checks...) Please help i really dont know what to do.

Light is on where the electrical cord is plugged in but cannot turn computer on

Hard to say exactly what is wrong with the limited information you provided but...

It's fairly common for laptops to get stuck is "Sleep Mode" and exhibit this behavior.

If that's the problem, you can try the following...

Unplug the power adapter from the computer, remove the battery from the computer, then press the startup button for a few seconds. Without putting the battery back in, connect the power adapter and try starting the computer again. If this works, shutdown the computer, put the battery back in, and you should be back in operation.

Good Luck!

does this engine have a low oil shutdown unit on it

if so check the oil level an top it up it could be interupting ignition

be sure your tanks are full and connections are good and tight
brush soapy water around connections to see if any have a leak

if not oil level shutdown , then sounds like a fuel problem

suggest have a gas serviceman take a look

these units can be tricky to solve

The computer shutdown and I tried to turn on and

If you are getting through the bios before it shuts down, you may want to make sure that the CPU cooling fan is working and that there is plenty of airflow around the CPU heat sink. Make sure the reset and power buttons are working properly as well. Check that all of your RAM modules and any add on cards are seated properly as well.

Will not power on

First try disconnecting ALL power to the laptop - not just at switching off at the wall but pull the plug and remove the battery as well. leave it for 30 seconds or so and put it all back and try again.

If no luck then press F8 on boot until the boot options screen appears and select 'Last Known Configuration'

If no luck then is this XP or Vista?

Won't turn on when I press the front button

This sounds like your power supply; it's the part that the power cord plugs into that converts the power to dc and powers your motherboard, drives, and everything else inside your computer. You can pick one up for around $30 online or $80 at a retail store.

Thanks and please take a moment to rate as fixya.

Alternator problem

Buy a OEM alternator, preferably one from the dealer. Many alternators found at parts stores are rebuilt used ones.
