Acer Laptop built in Microphone

When I go into the control panel and look at the microphone's performance I can see the bars go up that show that my microphone is picking up sound. However, it doesn't seem to be registering on the laptop, in other words when I try to use skype or tried to set up voice recognition I got nothing, I have a webcam with a mic and my laptop doesn't receive any sound from it either. I really don't want to buy a mic that I have to plug into my laptop. How can I get a mic to work?

Acer laptops run on the Windows operating system.
They also have built-in speakers that have a menu to change the settings.
All laptop speakers have a driver that tells the speaker how to function.
If the driver gets damaged or deleted, the speakers are rendered unusable.
Acer speaker problems usually have a driver issue that can be solved by the user.

Go to "Start," "Control Panel," "System and Security (or System and Maintenance)," "System," then "Device Manager."
Type in the Administrator password, if you are prompted to do so.
Click on "Sound, Video and Game Controllers."
Right-click the name of your Acer speakers and select "Update Driver Software."
Click on "Search Automatically for Updated Driver Software" and allow the computer to download any updates.
Reboot your Acer laptop.
Raise Speaker Sound Levels
Click on the "speaker" icon located in the lower right corner of your desktop.
Raise the volume bar all the way up to increase the sound.
Select "Mixer" to raise the other volume bars all the way up.
Windows 7 right click on the speaker icon in the taskbar select either playback or recording devices you should see your microphone listed under the recording tab right click on it select

Does the acer aspire 5570Z-2758 have a built-in microphone, and if it does, where is it and how do I turn it on?

As per the specs on this site:

http://support.acer.com/acerpanam/notebook/0000/Acer/Aspire5570/Aspire5570sp2.shtml

It does have a microphone.

You should be able to turn it on by going into your sound options :

Down in the lower right-hand corner you should see your volume control icon. Double click on that and it will bring up your volume control panel. Your microphone control should be listed here. Just make sure to uncheck the mute box and turn it up.

You may have to go to "options" and check "microphone" to get it to show up.

You may also need to go into the sound options (Start->Control Panel->Sounds and Audio Devices) to enable the correct recording device. Once you're in this window select the Audio tab and make sure your microphone is selected as the default recording device.

That should do it.

I hope this helps! If this did help you, please give a thumbs up!

Thank you for choosing FixYa!

I don't know if i need a microphone for the laptop or does the laptop have a built in micorphone.....i have an acer laptop

Go to control panel --> sounds --> recording tab: If the Microphone logo has a green check mark next to it then you are good to go! If there is just a grayed out Line-In picture, then your laptop does not have a built in mic

Check device manager if your microphone device has an exclamation mark or question mark. Also check control panel if your microphone shows fine there. Tell me if you see some errors there.

I have a acer with the acer crystal eye webcam built in it. do it have a microphone with it. if so how do I get it to work?

The Acer with crystal eye webcam will also have a built-in microphone. The webcam is in the center at the top of the screen. The built-in microphone is typically half-way between the edge of the screen and the webcam. It is a little opening with a microphone logo beside it. You can test both audio input with the built-in microphone and the audio output with the built-in speakers by doing the following....
1. click start > Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices
2. in the Sounds and Audio Devices Properties click the Voice tab, then click the Test hardware button
3. in the Sound Hardware Test Wizard window click the Next button, if required, click unblock...
4. speak into microphone to do the Microphone Test. Recording meter will show movement if it works.
5. click Next button to do the Speaker Test. Microphone input is now output on the speakers.
6. click Next button when finished doing the readings and click Finish to close the wizard.

My Mic is on all the time it is also coming through the speakers so when i turn external speakers on there is an huge feedback

See Adjust volume below

To use any microphone with your computer you will need to enable it in control panel. Instructions are for Windows XP but are similar for Vista and Win7

Click START, CONTROL PANEL, SOUNDS & AUDIO DEVICES

Click VOICE

In Sounds & Audio Devices Properties window locate SOUND PLAYBACK box. Click VOLUME button. Make sure that there is not a check-mark in the MUTE box against microphone in the list of devices and the volume slider is at the top of the scale.

Ensure the MUTE ALL box isn't checked before closing window.

Click VOLUME button in SOUND RECORDING BOX. Here SELECT microphone as an input source for recording (as opposed to un-checking mute in the playback controls).

NOTE if microphone is not listed in the 2 sets of volume controls click OPTIONS, PROPERTIES on the tool-bar and place a check against microphone in the list entitled 'show the following volume controls' and then click OK. The same applies to 'Internal MIC' if you are using a laptop with built in microphone - this must be enabled/ disabled separately to the external MIC.

To adjust audio volume.

Under VOLUME tab adjust Device Volume as necessary. Also (under Loudpeaker Settings) click Speaker Volume and adjust slider to suit.

You can also put a check mark in the box to show the volume control icon on the Task Bar so you can go straight to it to in future

ATR3350 Microphone: Battery in. Plugged into laptop. Recorded video. ATR3350 Mic is ignored. Audio is still recorded from my Logitech Webcam software. How does this thing work?

You need to tell your computer which microphone / sound source to use.
In he absence of other instructions it is defaulting to the built in microphone.
Normally your sound-card software should detect a new device plugged in and ask you to confirm it. However if it is not doing so you may need to change the audio settings.
How to correct this will vary slightly depending on which operating system you are using.

Using a microphone with computer

To use any microphone with your computer you will need to enable it in control panel. The following instructions are for Windows XP but are broadly similar for Vista and Win7

Click START, CONTROL PANEL, SOUNDS & AUDIO DEVICES

Click VOICE

Now click the VOLUME button in the SOUND RECORDING BOX. Here you need to SELECT microphone as an input source for recording (as opposed to un-checking mute in the playback controls). If your webcam/ microphone is built in to the laptop there should also be a volume control called 'Internal MIC' - disable it by placing a check-mark in the mute box.

NOTE if microphone (or internal MIC) is not listed in the 2 sets of volume controls click OPTIONS, PROPERTIES on the tool-bar and place a check against microphone in the list entitled 'show the following volume controls' and then click OK.

That should be it but it is possible you may also need to turn off the microphone in the software for your web-cam.

Please help when I bought my HP laptop it said it had a built in web cam and microphone how do I use this

You should have an application called Acer Crystal Eye on your system for the built-in WebCam. Check the Programs list under the Start window for Acer Crystal Eye. This should turn on the camera.
For the microphone click Start>Control Panel>Sound>Recording to see if the microphone is being detected. If it is, click on the Microphone icon and turn the microphone on.
Let me know if you need a driver or have any other questions. Thanks.
