If it doesn't turn correctly, that strongly indicates you didn't reassemble the lens properly. Take it apart and try again. And I hope you have a lens collimator and other tools to ensure you get the lens elements aligned properly.

Does a sigma 70-300mm dl macro fits on a canon 500d camera?

Yes, if you get one with a Canon mount. Sigma makes their lenses available with a variety of mounts; a lens with a Nikon mount, for example, will not fit on a Canon camera.

How do you make af work on nikon 3000, using a sigma 70-300 f4-5.6 dg macro lens?

Unfortunately, you don't. The D3000 does not have an autofocus motor; it relies on the the lens having one. This particular Sigma lens, unlike its Nikon equivalent, does not have a motor.

Nikon calls their lenses with an autofocus motor AF-S. Sigma calls theirs HSM.

How to click close macro photos with Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG APO Macro Lens?

This lens is not a true macro lens. It provides a magnification of 1:2 only, while true macro lenses provide 1:1 (life-size)magnification. So you won't be able to do very close macros with this lens. This lens has a Macro switch to enable you to switch to the Macro or normal mode.

Wild life

First, turn off the Macro setting. That's for close subjects, not far ones. With it on, the lens will not focus past a certain distance.

Second, the camera doesn't know whether you're taking a picture of some bushes or of a fox. In this case it's going to have a tendency to focus on the nearer object. So, turn off the autofocus and focus manually.

It will not focus on anything closer than 5 feet.

(From Sigma lens literature)
Capable of macro photography, this lens has a 1:2 maximum close-up magnification at the 300 mm focal length.
