Good Day, Simone43;
That is a nice TV, but to know if it's worth repairing is hard to tell from my position. I would recommend that you call an Authorized Service Center and have give an estimate for the repairs..........Good Luck, big IRISH.

No power might been struck by lightning is it junk or worth fixing

If the TV is 40" or bigger, it might be worth fixing depending on what board failed and whether parts are available for it. If you had provided the model number I could tell more.

When tvs are struck by lightning most of them are beyond repairs and if successful they always give problems in the future.

Lighting struck the apartment about a week ago, tv was plugged in when lighting struck apartment. Tv does not turn on anymore.

Best to take it to a repair centre as lightning damage can cause either minor fault such as an internal fuse blown or major problems that would make it uneconomical to repair. Ask for an estimate for the cost to repair.

Tv struck by lightning

You wont be able to fix the TV your self as the power circuit board may have blown - consult a qualified repair man. Buying a surge protector for your expensive electronic goods is highly recommended.

Struck by lightning and won't power up

WOW!
Warranty voider there.
Hate to see a $1,000 TV go down the toilet.
If your lucky, you can try checking the fuses inside the TV.
The lightning may have taking out only your power supply board, shopjimmy.com may have replacements for about $100. But, I can't tell you for sure that will fix the problem.
You may have to take to a repair shop to find out for sure.
Good Luck

I have a 51" JVC HD TV that is about 3 years old. Recently lightning struck my home and now I have sound but no picture. Is this set worth fixing and any ballpark figure on repair?

Lightning strikes are always tough because there is often hidden damage. By that I mean that the lifetime of some of the components might be shortened. That being said however, I would invest in a detailed repair estimate. Report the results here and we can help guide you from there. Without seeing the unit itself, remote diagnosis, especially in this type of situation, is tricky at best. You would be wise to have the actual unit examined. For a set of this size and age, the estimate is worth it.

TV struck by lightning

Looks like the flyback (high voltage transformer and probably the majority of the power board is kaput. It would be cheaper and probably worth your while to invest in a new TV rather than try to fix this one..

TV was struck by lightning

If it was struck by lightning, the surge would completely fry the insides of your TV. Your TV probably won't work anymore and you may have to consider replacing it. Some TVs have accident warranties so something like this could be protected, but if not, you will have to purchase a new one.
