Can't play ipod through TV

I have a Belkin stereo cable that I bought when I had my old ipod. Now I have a ipod Nano and I am trying to use the cable through my Vizio television. I have trying hooking up the cord in different places on the TV and through different inputs. Does this cable not work with my ipod now? How am I supposed to hook it up? Thank you.

The new iPods don't work like the previous ones. The cable you need for yours most likely uses the dock connector on the bottom. I ran into this as well. Why do they do this? Oh, yeah... money. ;)

Ipod nano buttons refuse to work when not connected to a stereo

please try resetting your ipod (hold the center and play buttons for a while), or restoring it on iTunes.

maybe the iPod is 'messed up' and 'thinks' it's buttons are the docking station ones, not itself's

Can't get ipod to play on Panasonic SA HT-940 System

I have a panasonic home theatre and my ipod connects in the front of the system. The cable is basically a headphone cable with the same JACK at either end. In short the system is the headphone but you don't put it in your ears!!. You can pick these cables up from virtually any electrical retailer for less than the price of a pint!

Jensen vm9412 and ipod classic

The newer generation iPods don't always work with the iPod connection kits in a lot of the car stereos. Some of the problem is due to the fact that the new generation iPods have been changed and the stereos were manufactured before the players were released so they are not compatible.
I bought my girlfriend a Pioneer car stereo with an iPod control cable, and it works fine with her Nano (not the new generation Nano) and it works with my iPod Photo 60 GB but it does not work with my iPhone 2G and I read that it is not compatible with the new Nanos or the Classics. Check with Jensen to see if the model you have is compatible with the Classic and see if there is a solution to the issue. It may not be compatible with the new video portion of the Classic firmware.

Ipod touch connector

Hello serafineb,

The Alpine Full Speed cable for the iPod supports the following versions:

Fourth generation iPod
Fifth generation iPod
iPod photo
iPod mini
iPod nano

According to their website it does not appear that Alpine currently has a cable for the iPod touch. They do, however, make a "generic" cable for most MP3 players that connects directly to the earphone jack. Although this would not allow you to control the iPod from your stereo's head unit, you should be able to connect the iPod touch via this cable to play music through your car stereo.

More information about the "generic" cable can be found here.

Best Regards,
Ken
