Check 1) If the webcam has a focus ring around the lens to sharpen the image 2) if your computer has the necessary powered USB ports for this model 3) Launch the logitech dashboard (toolbar) start the cam using the Quick Capture menu and adjust while running using the Settings Menu
Make sure you all use the same version of the chat software. Next check that your webcam is working locally. You can check the device manager and use a local webcam program to check that. ALso make sure the chat program is defined as an exception in the Windows firewall so it is not blocked. Further ideas: http://www.pcauthorities.com/pc-errors/how-to-fix-webcam-problems

Secondreason is, if you are using a laptop and have added an external microphonebetween the two it will cause distortion and static. Notknowing the configuration of your computer makes it harder to analyze theproblem. Sohope this is of some help. Bud

I don't think many people have a trouble free web cam, whatever make or model of pc or web cam.
I get echo and feed back; if that's wot you mean by static, or do you litterly mean static.
Helps to have your volume down a touch and the person who you are speaking to also, especially if it has a built in microphone(sorry, not checked your model), a seperate microphone is best as it's away from any possible speaker feedback from your pc's speakers, or any other clse electrical interference.
Hope this relieves it a little.
