I've been trying to find the ambient temp sensor on my 2002 ford taurus, can't find it. 3.0L/V6 GAS ENGINE.

The question is WHY you are inquiring about the crankshaft sensor. For your information, if your vehicle is equipped with the 3.0L OHV V6, it is probably a CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR & SYNCHRONIZER that needs replacing, if it exhibits the following symptoms. 1. You hear a squealing type noise that is extremely similar to, and often misdiagnosed as a belt squeal. 2. The engine runs rough, sometimes stalling. 3. If you do happen you get a P0340 CMP circuit failure code. Again, this is only common to 3.0L OHV V6s. If your vehicle is equipped with the 3.0L DOHC Duratec, disregard everything I've just posted. If you do need a new cam sensor, go to your local Ford dealer parts department to purchase it. (FORD base part numbers, 6B288 & 12A362) Hope this helps. To add to your question, ALL Taurus engines use a timing chain. It would help if you post which engine yours is equipped with. To add further to my post, if you do purchase the two aforementioned parts, the sychronizer needs to be timed the way a distributor would, during installation, failing which would result in ignition and fuel injection timing being out. a obd2 scanner

It should have a specfic mounting spot on the side of the intake, by the exhaust pressure tube coming from back of the engine...If it is melting you might have carbon built up in the tube. Or possible electrical problems at the harness connector. Here is a link with images...hope this helps.

That code is for the Evaporative Emissions. It could be a bad Evaporative Emissions Canister Valve or just a bad vacuum line or my granddaughter's 1997 Ford Escort had that code and her gas cap was NOT on. Now when you figure out what one it is disconnect the battery for 10 minutes to reset the computer.

The Taurus has Two temp sensors. One for the dash, which is isolated, then one for the PCM, it also controls when the fan relay should actuate. Its a 2 wire sensor, just above the thermostat. If you remove the harness from that sensor, and the cooling fan comes on, at any temp, (should take 5- 10 seconds) then thats your fault.

one fan is tied to the a/c when engine warm and a/c on it will run and the other is tied to the temp sensor if it does not run at anytime fan sensor could be bad if does run and thermostat has not stuck half close your radiator needs roded out (Cleaned)
