The Amibient temp sensor should be located, in the front of the car, close to the hood latch. Let me know how you make out. It is plastic and black in colour about 2inches in length and has around 2 or 3 wire connection to it.

Good luck

My egr valve pressure sensor got so hot that it melted. When I replaced it, it started to melt the new one. Are there any pix of the engine anywhere to see if I'm connecting it correctly? It is a 2002...

It should have a specfic mounting spot on the side of the intake, by the exhaust pressure tube coming from back of the engine...If it is melting you might have carbon built up in the tube. Or possible electrical problems at the harness connector. Here is a link with images...hope this helps.

Po443 code 2002 ford taurus

That code is for the Evaporative Emissions. It could be a bad Evaporative Emissions Canister Valve or just a bad vacuum line or my granddaughter's 1997 Ford Escort had that code and her gas cap was NOT on. Now when you figure out what one it is disconnect the battery for 10 minutes to reset the computer.

1992 Ford Taurus with a 3.8l V6 the cooling fan

The Taurus has Two temp sensors. One for the dash, which is isolated, then one for the PCM, it also controls when the fan relay should actuate. Its a 2 wire sensor, just above the thermostat. If you remove the harness from that sensor, and the cooling fan comes on, at any temp, (should take 5- 10 seconds) then thats your fault.
