First, and most importantly, do NOT disassemble a monitor unless you absolutely KNOW what you are doing. This can be a very dangerous thing to do. Therefore, you may have to live with this situation unless you want to buy a new monitor.

I cannot hear any sound from my Dell monitor 1702FP. Are there speakers installed within the monitor?. VGA cable is connected. When I use a spare monitor using the VGA cable the sound is loud and clear. ...

The Dell 1702FP doesn't have speakers. The specs of the Dell 1702FP are available here: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/monitors/1702fp/en/specs.htm . (BTW neither does the Dell 1704FPT.) However, some Dell monitors can have a sound bar (speaker set-up) mounted on the monitor.

VGA cables don't carry sound. Check if a second cable (an audio patch cable is connected to the computer and the second monitor). (There are some cables that actually bundle the 3.5 mm patch cable with the video cable for convenience. (I've seen a number of DVI cables with that bundle option.) The plugs will separate into separate units at each end.

Other monitors do have speakers built in - look for a 3.5 mm audio input jack with the rest of the input connections on your monitor. There are some monitors that accept an HDMI input with a 3.5 mm audio out jack; these monitors don't have speakers and thus are enabling a daisy chain to connect the speakers to the monitor. So you do need to be careful and look for the audio in label.

You can attach a set of speakers to your computer using the audio out (look for a lime green 3.5 mm jack on the back of a desktop). For laptops or to use the front audio ports, look for a headphone jack.

I hope this helps. Please add a comment with more information about your monitor and computer for additional assistance.

I am trying to use my DVI input for HD quality picture. The video is great but i have tried all of the RCA inputs for audio and none of them give audio in DVI input. I do not see any RCA inputs for DVI. Do...

DVI does not use RCA inputs. It either uses a DVI input or an HDMI input. Look at the back of your TV for a small slot style input or a wide wedge style connector. If you provide me with your make and model number I can further help you.

How to connect laptop to Panasonic TV LCD TX-L42U2B

Laptop to TV hookup all depends on what the laptop has for output to a monitor and what the TV has for input. Your laptop should have a monitor output, a 15 pin female jack. You need a cable (male to male) with these 15 pin connectors at each end to hookup to a TV with a PC input jack. For the audio, use a 3.5mm stereo audio cable. Hookup from earphone out on the laptop to the TVs PC audio input jack. If the TV has no PC input jacks, there are other ways to connect. See this link:

I have a Samsung P2771hd monitor. I have green and black cords (for sound and microphone) coming from the computer. I bought a cable that has the black plug from the pc that splits to the red and white...

The Red (right channel) nand White (left channel) RCA plug to miniphone jack is made for audio amplifier with RCA input jacks. The monitor should have Green audio input mini stereo phone jack for the audio input from the PC audio line out (Green mini phone jack).
You will need the shielded audio cable with mini stereo phone plug at both end for the audio hook up.

What do i need too buy too get sound on my monitor,no cords came with it too hook up too computer?thank you.

If the monitor does have the audion line input jack (it should be labeled with 'AUDIO IN' or something like that and it will usually be green clor jack, then all you need is an audio cable with mini stereo phone jack at each end, one plug will go to the monitor audio in, the pther will go to the PC audio out (green) jack. You can set the monitor volume at 1/2 level to start with first.<br /> <span style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt; FONT-FAMILY: 'Arial','sans-serif'; mso-bidi-font-size: 12.0pt"><a href="http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums">http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums</a></span><br /> <span style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt; FONT-FAMILY: 'Arial','sans-serif'; mso-bidi-font-size: 12.0pt"> </span><br /> <span style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt; FONT-FAMILY: 'Arial','sans-serif'"><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_plague">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_plague</a></span><br />

How do I activate the sound for my monitor (CM2019). Our old speakers broke and I want to use the speakers in the monitor.

On the back of the monitor, look for a small jack with green color with the 'AUDIO INPUT', 'AUDIO LINE INPUT', then you will need an audio cable with mini stereo phone plug at each end (get it from Radio Shack). One end of the plug will go into the monitor AUDIO input (green), and another end will go into the PC AUDIO line out (Green jack) just like where your old PC speaker cable was plugged into. You need to set the volume level on your monitor to about mid point first and redjaut it later on.

NO AUDIO FROM MONITOR. HOW CAN I RESTART ?

First we need to narrow down where the problem is, try using MP3 player or audio source to feed the monitor (set the monitor volume to about half way for now) audio input (green jack), if you do get the sound OK, then the other end of the jack should be connected to the green jack (audio line out) of the PC (set the volume control to half way up) and see if you get the sound. Post back what happen as to which parts do not work.

Hi, I have a Samsung SyncMaster215tw, I've been using speakers to hear music and movies but recently gave them away, how can i get sound directly from the monitor?

The manual (you can download it here if you need a copy) shows an audio input jack right next to the VGA input connector. This jack takes a 1/8-inch stereo plug the same as the output jack on the computer. You can use the same cable that is usually supplied with computer speakers. Just plug the cable into the computer's sound output jack and the monitor input. I'd recommend setting the volume on the computer to maximum, and using the monitor volume control to adjust your sound.
