If the jam is at the registration roller and appears to be folded, or a "Z" fold, the machine needs a new paper feed clutch and duplex cluch installed.
This is noticable when there is a squelching noise when paper feeds.
Other times the registration clutch is not working.
The feed roll itself can cause these problems, late feeding, but the paper feed modual is most the problem on this type of model.
Other known problmes is the paper tray itself. Sometimes paper feeds out of the tray, and the edges of the paper will actually create paper cuts in the paper tray. The paper glided through these cuts and can get stuck in them causing paper jams.
A Xerox service call may be required to repair this type of problem.

Paper jam

  • Discover the location of the jam. Carefully open the cover of the copy machine and the paper tray to see exactly where the paper is jammed.
  • 2Turn off the copy machine before pulling out the paper.
  • 3Pull the page out, the opposite way it is fed into the copier. Pull the jammed sheet out gently. If you tug too hard, the paper may rip.
  • 4Check for any paper fragments and clean up any torn pieces.
  • 5Check the roller where the jam occurred to be sure none of the copier parts are loose or broken. The roller should be smooth all the way across with no possible snags.
  • 6Replace the cover and paper tray and turn the machine back on.
  • 7Press the button to cancel the paper jam message. This button will vary among copy machines. The display will tell you which button to push

see the diagram for copiers and let`s the way of paper for troubleshooting .

Have a 214 xerox copier get e5 error and it will not reset

Remove the copy cartridgte and look on the right side of the machine. Clean all the contacts you see with a soft cloth, maybe lightly saturated with alcohol.
Then on the door where the copies exit, open that door, you will see a metal, sawtooth shaped piece of metal, just before the paper exits the machine on that door. Take a brusk and gently clean the black ink off that sawtooth. Normally what happens is that builds up with ink and starts to arch causing the E-5 code.
You may want to check the socket that is one the upper left portion of that door to inspect the contacts for damage.

I have a xerox 8400 and it just keeps jamming. actually i noticed the blue was not prinitng..and was actually pinkish...i thought a ink block was put in wrong so i was making a lot of solid blue copies to...

Where does it jam? Is it making an "accordion fold"just before it enters the front rollers? Does it pick up a second sheet from the tray in the process?
Does it print OK from the manual feed tray?
If so, there might be a sensor worn out at paper entry, near the entry rollers and the plastic curved flap in the front. Once had this problem, the sensor's plastic "tongue" was half it's usual size, worn out by the paper abrasion alone.

I picked up a 5830 copier and a paper jam is in the LCD I followed the instruction, and there is no paper caught into the area per the displayed area or in the paper path period. Code is D3-1 Do you have a...

The machine has been sitting around for a while, or was just been stopped being used.
Try cleaning the brown roller in Tray 2.
Try the other paper trays see if they work. Tray 1 and tray 3.
We would need more information about the results of these areas and how it worked.
If there is alcohole, try cleaning the brown roller. The other rollers are harder to see. This machine could even have bad paper feed clutches.
A xerox serivce call would have to be placed to do the major repairs.

Brother MFC-9420CN Paper Jam Error message w/ loud grinding noiz

    please try this

    1. Turn off the printer.
    2. Remove any paper trays. Inspect them for wrinkled or damaged paper.
    3. Also open the back cover of the printer if this model has one.
    4. Open any other doors that give access to the printer's paper path and to the toner or ink cartridge.
    5. If necessary, remove the toner or ink cartridge. Place it away from light/ sun light to avoid damaging it.
    6. If you find a piece of jammed paper, remove it by holding it with both hands and pulling firmly. The goal is to keep the paper from tearing. If several pieces are jammed together, try pulling out the middle piece first to loosen the jam.
    7. If the paper does tear, try rotating the roller gears manually to free the paper. Don't force anything, though. Do this step especially if the jam message comes up repeatedly without any obvious paper jam, there may be a small tear of paper inside.
    8. Ones the printer is free of paper Replace the toner or ink cartridge and paper trays, close any doors you opened and turn the printer back on.
    9. If the printer paper jam message still appears, then there is still some paper in the printer. Reinspect the paper path.
    10. see alternative if the problem is still not solved.

    alternative :
Load a piece of thick paper, for example photo paper and press the resume button (may be diffrent button on diffrent models) a few times to the printer picks up the paper and puts it through the machine.

    Paper jam 11

    Step1
Turn the printer off and on to see if it can automatically clear some or all of the jam. Many printers provide an error-code listing on the front panel display for the area where the jam occurred. If your printer shows an error code, be sure and check the printer manual to see if that identifies the area of the printer where the jam occurred.
    Step
    2
    Turn off the printer.
    Step
    3
Remove any paper trays. Inspect them for wrinkled or damaged paper.
    Step
    4
Open any other doors that give access to the printer's paper path and to the toner or ink cartridge.
    Step
    5
If necessary, remove the toner or ink cartridge. Place it in a bag or away from light to avoid damaging it.
    Step
    6
If you find a piece of jammed paper, remove it by holding it with both hands and pulling firmly (see A). The goal is to keep the paper from tearing. If several pieces are jammed together, try pulling out the middle piece first to loosen the jam.
    Step
    7
If the paper does tear, try rotating the roller gears manually to free the paper (see B). Don't force anything, though.
    Step
    8
Replace the toner or ink cartridge and paper trays, close any doors you opened and turn the printer back on.
    Step
    9
If the printer paper jam message still appears, then there is still some paper in the printer. Reinspect the paper path.

Does it say clear jam immediatly or does it start to run then declare a jam?
If it starts then tells you to clear a jam and no paper is in the machine, your feed rollers are shot. Smooth like trying to drive a car on ice.
If it says that all the time, no attempt to feed then you have a sensor either dirty, knocked out of place or something stuck on a sensor.
Either in the paper path or in the scanner.

    I need help with xerox.

It really sounds like there is a sensor that is hanging up.
Or if its an optical sensor its dirty.
Leave the machine off for a while and inspect the fuser area for actuators in the paper path.
You may have a spring off of on of those sensor assemblys or it is hanging up on a cover.
That sounds like what you are describing since you can make one color copy.
Also, make sure your paper size settings are correct. If you have the setting different from the actual paper size in the machine, it will shut off with more or less a false jam due to the machine expecting a size paper and the paper path sensors do not see that size as the machine is running.
