Question about HP Xb3000 Notebook Expansion Base And 400gb Kit 400 GB Hard Drive

1 Answer

KEYBOARD My cat kicked a glass of coffee over on the coffee table and soaked my HP Laptop Pavillion. I turned it off, turned it upside down and let it stay that way overnight. The next morning everything came up and is working fine, but my keyboard will not communicate with the computer. I checked the status and it says the keyboard is fine and operational. Any suggestions?

I'm afraid you're going to have to replace the keyboard. I really like my Dr. Pepper, and have had to replace three keyboards in two different laptops because of spillage, maybe one of these days I'll learn. Even the smallest amount of liquid will kill a keyboard, and the thing to keep in mind after a spill, is that the keyboard will either work, and may require some cleaning, or not work at all, and require replacement.

Keyboard dont type

No matter how careful you may be, knocking a cup of coffee or spilling a glass of soda over your keyboard may happen. This does not, however, mean the end of your keyboard. If you act quickly, you may be able to fix your wet keyboard to avoid any corrosion of its electronic components or any short circuit which might render it unusable. By following a few recommendations, you should be able to fix your wet computer keyboard.

Unplug the keyboard from your computer immediately after the spill to avoid any corrosion or short circuit. If you spilled water over your laptop's keyboard, turn your computer off by clicking on "Shut Down" on "Turn Off" in the start menu, unplug the power supply and remove the battery. Turn the keyboard upside down and shake it to remove most of the water from it. Take a hair dryer and set it to its lowest temperature setting. Use it to dry any water which might remain under your keyboard's keys. Wait at least 12 hours before plugging your keyboard into your computer again. If your computer is a laptop, wait 12 hours before turning it on again. For Other Liquids Disconnect the keyboard from your computer immediately after the spill to avoid any short circuit or corrosion. Turn your computer off by selecting "Shut Down" or "Turn Off" in the start menu, remove the battery and disconnect the power supply. Place paper towels on a table, turn the keyboard upside down and shake it over them to allow most of the liquid to fall down. Take a few clean paper towels and wipe the liquid off your keyboard's keys. To clean between the keys, you can also use cotton swabs with just a little bit of water. If the liquid which you spilled over your keyboard contained a high amount of sugar, such as soda or sugared coffee, you might have to remove some of your keyboard's keys to clean the surface under the keys with paper towels or swabs. You can do so by lifting them gently with a screwdriver or by using a key remover, which you can find in some IT stores. Wait at least 12 hours before using your keyboard again. If your computer is a laptop, wait the same length of time before turning it on again. Got tea on my laptop

As i understand, the system seems to be working fine after the spillage ... there shouldnt be any issues other than the keyboard being sticky .
If the tea had seeped in then it could have fried the Motherboard. However , you could reach HP for support incase of any issues , if you tell them that the tea was spilled on the system then they might not cover the issue under warranty.

My cat sat on the keyboard of my HP Pavillion DV6 notebook and now the keys must be held in until the letter or symbol comes up on the screen which takes a few seconds per key i touch. I need help...

This might sound radical but I had this problem only it involved a dog playing kick the laptop and then sitting on the keyboard. I simply went to the control panel > device manager > scroll down to the keyboard and right click and choose unistall. Make sure that when you reboot, you have internet access so that if the laptop needs it can search windows update if it needs to install a new driver. The computer will read the new hardware and install a driver for it, this essentially resets all the default settings. The only other place I know of that has keyboard settings besides the Fn + key combos is the Language and Regional settings in the control Panel. I believe if you uninstall the keyboard and then reboot, all the settings should fall back to the default settings for a newly installed piece of hardware.

My kids spilled juice on my laptop and i need figure out how to

With my keyboard, I use a damp cloth with glass cleaner on it and wipe it off that way nice and gently, be sure your laptop is off when you do this, does a good job and makes it look like new again. Hopefully the kids didn't damage the keyboard.

Keyboard is not working correctly

hi,

do you have cats?
this may sound strange but my cat sprayed my keyboard and fried it, my cat also sprayed the front of my tower and fried the usb and power buttons. when I turned my keyboard upside down urine leaked out a little, keyboards are cheap, and now I keep a kitchen rag over it at night.
