I have a 99 dodge caravan. just recently my fuel gauge stop working. Then would start to work. Its like every other day. When I suddenly braked the gasuge went to empty and the automatic locks wouldn't work. I brought it to the mechanic, it worked fine for him. He said maybe my computer is slowly dieing. I've never had a problem with my van. COULD IT be this serious

Probably not. Sounds like a bad ground. The ground connecting point for the door is behind the drivers side kick panel, lower left. And the ground for the fuel sending unit is on the drivers side fender well. First I would unplug the connection at the tank (you can usually access this plug without drooping the tank) and check for corrosion. Clean it if any and take a paper clip and bend the tabs a little in the plug to make a better connection.
