It is the color wheel getting ready to fail; very common in these sets.

When it fails set will not have picture and lamp will not come on.

Widely available on the internet and You Tube has video instructions for the replacement.

Tv have a colors wheel.Colors fade in and out or flashes black and white within the picture.The tv making humming or loud motor noises the colors wheel is dying and not spinning correctly in it motor anymore.The tv must have it colors wheel replace,will solved this problems.

My samsung dlp has a loud buzz/hum noise when it comes on and them remains though somewhat less loud

The buzz can be the color wheel or one of the cooling fans going bad. The only other thing that could cause a buzz would be the ballast going bad. Call a local repair shop to further diagnose the problem
