I know that this is old. But I've experienced this with my player of the same model a couple different times. All mine needed was a reset. To do this, find the reset button to the right of the hold switch on the bottom of your player. With a tack or paper clip, anything small enough to fit, press down the button and release. It should turn on by its self right after that. I hope this works for anyone else.

My ipod is not starting. when i use to start my ipod only the word PHILIPS comes and then ipod switches off. What could be the problem?

Make sure your player was fully charged and the lock switch was in the unlocked states. If this OK, try to use Philips Device Manager on your PC and activate the factory settings.
Good luck!

MP3 WONT TURN ON

Take a small thin object such as a staple or paper clip and insert it into the reset hole on the left side. GENTLY push the staple in as far as it will go, hold a couple of seconds, and pull it out. Now plug the GoGear into your computer and press and hold the Play button until the unit turns on.

If this doesn't work, your unit is probably damaged and will need to be replaced or sent to Phillips for repair if under warranty.

Mp3 wont charge

There is a lock on the side - unlock it and try charging again.
Recovery Mode for Philips' GoGear
Open the Philips Device Manager (Start à All Programs à Philips Digital Audio Player à SAXXX à Philips Device Manager) and click on the “Repair” tab. Then click on the “Repair” button to start the repair process. Most of the time, when your player is in that state, the Device Manager will not recognize that your GoGear is plugged in. If this is the case: Disconnect the player from the PC, and make sure the mp3 player is turned off. Hold in the volume + button on the mp3 player, and reconnect the player to your pc while holding in the volume + button. Continue holding the volume + for 10-15 seconds until a "Found New Hardware Wizard" pops up. It should recover your device if there isn't anything internally wrong with the player. Warning: this procedure will result in your songs being erased off the player, so they will have to be reloaded.

Philips GoGear Firmware Upgrade
You need to get the latest firmware upgrade from the Philips website:
1. Go to www.philips.com/support
2. Enter your country/language
3. Enter your model # SA6045 or whatever
4. Click on the link for your exact model # (the one w/o the "B" in it)
5. Click on "Software & Drivers"
6. Download the updated "Device/Firmware Manager"
7. Once installed, open the Philips Device Manager
8. Click on the "Update" tab, then the "Update" button (with your mp3 player connected to the computer, of course)
9. Your Mp3 players firmware will update automatically
If you do not have the latest version of the Philips Device Manager installed (the latest is the version from the Philips website), then clicking the "Update" button will give you a false positive saying "The firmware on your device is already up to date."

My mp3 is not being rcognised by pc

Solution:
1)Recovery mode - to get PC to recognize player -
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
2) To prevent future occurrences - make sure you have downloaded the installation CD or software - open Philips Device Manager (Start --> All Programs --> Philips D) - click on Update - twice - the player will upgrade to the latest firmware
