I havea 46" sanyo model dp46841 lcd tv but the tv wont respond to the oem remote or universal remotes ?

Sounds like the infra-red sensor inside it is either damaged or it do not get proper voltage to work. Check it. If it get proper voltage/s and still not receive any infra-red signal from the remote control, replace it. The part in discussion will look somewhat like this.

25758228-54zq5khwu0nuxgxnhh2yrt4a-2-2.jpg Prior the replace this component, make sure that the remote control you're using works properly, and do emits infrared light rays, during each button presses on it. Check the remote control for its infrared emission. Check it with fresh batteries. If you wish to get more details about how to check a remote control, please visit this site. Remote not working

Check the remote control for its infrared emission. Check it with fresh batteries. Check and clean the battery contacts inside the battery comparment, for any rust or dust accululated, prevents proper battery connection. Clean it well, berofe inserting batteries. If you are using a universal remote control, you have to set it up with the set-up code to your TV brand, otherwise it won't work properly. If you wish to get more details,

REMOTE WONT WORK

if its universal remote (replcement remote) it could just be that it needs code put back so it can communicate with TV. if its the remote that came with TV and has fresh batteries and does not work. I find most of the time its simple as the contacts in the battery area are not making proper connections cause they tend to loosen up over time. you will have to examine the battery compartment by opening up the remote. Remove batteries first and then attempt to open case with small flat head screw driver. Most them just snap together but some times there are screws. Be cautious when you do this not to break the case and remember reverse assembly order. When you get it open look for bent springs or clips in battery compartment. You might have to bend clip or pull spring to tighten up connections. If everything seem normal look for loose wire connection to battery terminals that are loose or not connected. if this is what it is then soldering iron & solder will do the trick. if all fails go to where you bought TV and ask for replacement because if its any thing more serious than battery connection then the remote has to be replaced.

Remote will not power on tv; however it will operate tv once it is on. Also it will turn it off.

Have you try a fresh set of battery yet?

Clean the battery contacts and remote front lens.

Are you using a stock or universal TV remote?

The carbon contacts can be worn out on your tv remote.
There are carbon cleaner and carbon paste you can purchase to "FIX" your remote but you has to open up the remote to apply the cleaner and paste.

If you are using an universal remote then you can try for other code/combination.

If you are handy then go the the carbon paste "FIX IT" method.

A new universal remote cost between $12-40+.

How do I get my universal remote to work for my tv?

There is a good chance you wont, unfortunately the majority of universal remotes are not compatible with the majority of the products they are meant to work with, I suggest only getting a universal remote from a retailer that has your tv unit on display, so the store assistant can demonstrate that it works, other than that I strongly advise against them and advise to seek a replacement remote from the manufacturer. I hope this helps. Good luck.

Turn your TV off and unplug it for several minutes. Remove the batteries from any remote controls that you use for the TV, press all of their buttons, and install fresh batteries. Reset the TV to factory defaults. The universal remote control should not have caused any damage to the TV. If the problem persists, we recommend that you seek service by calling 1-888-237-8289 in the U.S or 1-866-237-8289 in Canada.

Wont power up via remote

Hello aadams64,

The photo diode might be defective in this TV. I would suggest that you get a schematic and voltmeter to measure the bias voltages and the signals involved in the use of the IR control. This will let you know if the control is working. I would suggest that you get a qualified TV technician to look at your set and troubleshoot it because of the possibility of damage that may occur if you should make a mistake while trying to troubleshoot the problem.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,

Remote not working

If this TV came with an universal remote, try pressing the TV key. Sometimes it works.
If that did not work any other RCA, GE, Proscan universal should work.
