The TouchPad cable is a FFC.
Flat Flex Cable
It slides into the Flat Flex Cable connector on the motherboard.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Flat-Flex-Cable.jpg
The Flat Flex connector is rectangular in shape, and composed of two parts.
The lower larger part is attached to the motherboard, and does not move.
The smaller part on top is movable.
The smaller part locks the FFC in place.
There are two tabs on each top corner of the smaller part. These tabs are eased up to release the FFC.
The tip of the FFC has copper contacts. These contacts must align with the contacts, in the Flat Flex cable's connector on the motherboard.
Then the smaller part is locked back into place.
Noted the above in case you just pulled the FF C out of the FF C connector on the motherboard.
There is a stripe on one side of the FFC.
(Flat Flex Cable)
This stripe goes to the Left side of the laptop as you are viewing it from the front.

{If somehow this direction is wrong, flip the cable over}
