I have the same problem. I reformatted recently and everything worked great. Then a couple days ago I upgraded XP to service pack 3 so that I could reinstall my Zune software. Then I noticed I had no sound... Nothing is muted and external usb speakers work.

Have you checked in Device Manager (Control Panel, Performance and Maintenance, System, Hardware, Device Manager) for any conflicts - the dreaded yellow icon? Is this a recent problem? Have you installed anything new? Try deleting the device, rebooting and let your operating system find the device and install the drivers for it again. It just might be a little buggy and can be fixed fairly easily. Let me know.

No sound from built in speakers.

The bleep cold be just a bleep device separate from the speakers. It looks like a round piece of aluminum with a large dot of white solid past on it with a wire attached.
1st. make sure the volume is up all the way.
Then try using a headphone just to make sure the sound card is working.
If the headphones work then it should be a setting somewhere.
Sometime the switch that turns off the speakers when headphones are plugged in gets stuck, try plunging them in and unplugging them out while music is playing.
If they don't work the sound card may be blown but it is still possible it is not.
Also, try Keyboard shortcuts for mute and UN-mute.
Try going to control panel and bring up the sound app and try different options in there for mono and or what ever it has, you may find the answer there.
If the headphones work but nothing else works you can always plug external speakers in the headphone plug.

I cant play music or nothing thers no sound on the laptop and i dont no wa speakers i shoulkd get

double check if the volume is on mute there is a certain icon from your keyboard that indicate volume. try holding Fn key then press that volume button to unmute it. make sure also that ther eare no headphone connected as it will disable sound if you are expecting it from speakers. you may also try checking the driver status if you need to reinstall it or update it. simply go to control panel > system > hardware tab > device manager to check audio device there, if the icon has yellow marking on it then that is the problem you just need to reinstall or update the driver for audio by either using the driver disc that came with the system or downloading it from the manufaturers website

I have made sure all sound devices are enabled and audio volumes are set correctly in the sound portion of control panel. All mutes are unchecked and I have uninstalled and reinstalled the correct sound...

I am having this same issue. I would appreciate it if someone who knows what this issue is and how to correct it would contact me and let me know what I need to do to fix it.

No sound in my computer

There might be number of reasons
1) check your sound drivers are good. Start-->run--> type devmgmt.msc and check if u can see any yellow mark on sound devices
2) in control panel go to volume control and check if wave bar in not at bootom or mute button is not checked.
3) Go to start-->run--> type services.msc, check in windows audio if service is not stopped if its is then restart this service.
Hope it helps !!

First, try pluging in an exteral mic to check the mic itself is not broke. Next Go to the device manager to check for driver problems (control panel, system, Hardware look for yellow ?'s) Check control panel, Sounds and Audio, audio, sound recording, volume. There are just too many ways to mess with the sound settings, and they often seem to just mute themselves!
Good luck

No sound comes from the speakers unless i use an earpiece

Hi,
this is probably driver related. re-install the sound-drivers or download from the manufacturers site.
Also check, that there is no volume control or panel that has been ticked to Mute.

right click on the speaker icon in your taskbar, select Open Volume Control. If you do not see the Microphone control select options>properties and select it from the list of check boxes. Press OK. Check the mute box for your microphone.
