Your phone must be assigned to a different provider then ur SIM is from. in this case ur phone will have to be unlocked in order to use any SIM in to it. Visit ur local sunday markets to find someone who can do that for under $40. or if this the phone u have owned since new and u r done with ur contract, then call the network provider of that phone to give u the unlock code.
It's possible your phone is locked to a specific sim card. If you got that phone from a telecommunications company for example AT&T, you will have to contact them..
have you also tried other sim cards on your phone? just to rule out if it's a problem with the sim card or the phone..
Swap the sim cards over.
This will work providing both SIM cards are on the same Mobile Network (e.g T-Mobile UK)
If the SIM's are different - Try changing away as the phone may not be locked to a network.
If it is locked - Take it to a mobile phone shop to get it unlocked.
Or you can port over number from one network to another.
Speak to your mobile service provider regarding PAC Code.
