If you have a friend with a multimeter then you can trace the fault backwards from the plug to see when exactly the short circuit happens without plugging the machine into the mains using the multimeter terminals as the mains terminal and advance the timer by hand to see where the short accurses on the dial so you can see weather the short is the heating element or not that's the main cause of short circuits eric

SOURCE: MAYTAG LAT9235AAE TOP LOAD WASHER WILL NOT WORK

Pt, Should be a yellow wire from the water level switch according to the diagram I have. See if it has 120V to motor when full. Just take it to ground. Same with the lid switch in closed position, it shows here as yellow, but could be grey, these diagrams are not always accurate. I think you have a level switch or lid switch problem. Check for voltage to the motor when it should be agitating. Catriver..post back.

SOURCE: Leak from maytag top load coin machine during spin drain cycle only

Possible that you would have a tub seal leak if it is only noticable during spin cycle. Possible that it "drips" slightly while in agitation, but not enough to notice it. While in spin mode you have a lot more parts moving as well as a lot more water pressure on the seal itself. Pump could also be leaking, but highly doubtful since it would leak a constant amount at all times. Good Luck!!! Jim

You will need to replace the lid switch assembly, not just the fuse. Below is a link that will go directly to an enlarged image of what you need, along with ordering and shipping information.

SOURCE: Maytag Performa water level

Water-inlet valve A defect in the water-inlet valve may mean that it's no longer able to shut off completely when the electricity has been turned off to it. If this occurs, the valve may leak and drip water into the clothes tub. In time, the water may accumulate substantially. If this happens, you need to replace the valve.

Water-level switch A defect--or an obstruction--in the water-level switch may mean that it can't tell the water to shut off. So the machine overflows. This switch senses the water level in the clothes tub. It's usually a diaphragm device with a small, clear tube attached between the switch and the bottom of the washer's outer tub. As the water level in the tub increases, the pressure on the air in the tube increases. When the pressure reaches a certain level, it activates the switch, shuts off the water, and signals the timer to begin the agitate cycle. You can either clear any obstruction in the tube or replace the water-level switch.

I own a maytag atlantis top load washer model LAT4914AAE and the fuse located behind the knob controls blows when ever i go to wash a load

Hello,

The reason the fuse keeps blowing is because one of the two switches their where the fuse is is bad and drawing to much amperage so the fuse blows. THe lid switch/fuse asm comes together and it should be replaced.

The part number for that switch assambly is 22001682 it could be purchased at your local appliance parts store or online at;

Maytag model ka806 won,t start. Could it be a safety switch or fuse?

If the lid switch is defective, your washer can't spin and may not function at all. The switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. Often you have to raise or open the top or front of the washer to get to the switch. If it's defective, you need to replace it. Some machines have a special lid-switch fuse near the lid switch, inside the control panel. If this fuse blows, the unit won't fill with water until you replace the fuse. Here is the part you need.

My washer continually blows a fuse

If your machine is the Maytag stacked washer/dryer combo, there are a couple of areas I would look at. The first is the lid switch assembly. The fuse is a safety device designed to blow if the lid switch malfunctions. The two lid switches interact and if they don't both switch at the same time it can blow the fuse.
The second thing to try is to wash a load on cold water only and see if the fuse blows. See if there is a water supply issue. Check the water inlet valve. Remove the water supply hoses and check the small screens in the water inlet valve. Make sure they are clean and clear of rust or debris. Use a mulitmeter or ohmmeter to check the solenoids for continuity. A lack of continuity would indicate a faulty solenoid and the water inlet valve assembly will need replaced. These are a couple of things to consider. Hope this helped and best wishes.

Fuse keeps blowing out in my maytag washing machine

the power surge probably shorted out something in the main wire harness or fried your motor. remove the screws from the control panel and look for any wires that are discolored, charred or disconnected. in the event you do't find it there trace the wiring thru the cabinet looking for the same thing. if you don't find that, replace the motor
