Not able to print

A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer (if USB connected)> reboot your pc > unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer (if USB connected). Then try to print again once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection or when the WiFi light on the printer turns solid green (if WiFi connected.).

If that doesn't help, try the steps below:

  1. Disconnect the USB cable connecting the printer from your computer.
  2. On your computer, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes.
  3. Delete the Lexmark print object.
  4. Reboot computer.
  5. Re-brick your printer by pulling out the power supply - black box where the power cord is plugged into on the back of the printer, and re-plug after 30 seconds.
  6. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to the computer.
  7. Wait until your computer fully recognizes the USB connection. To check, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes. If you see a new Lexmark print object in the list, try to print a document to verify that the problem is fixed.

Trying to print a picture from my dell computer. when i hit print on the computer printer does not print. what button do i push on the printer itself. when i go to view/print it just says to insert memory...

With the printer power on, unplug and then plug in the printer from/to the computer. This should force the printer to be reinstalled.
Check the printer status.
Click START>Control Panel>Devices and Printers>click on your printer. check the status for any error messages. On the printer status, delete all pending jobs. Once the printer status display shows that all pending jobs have been deleted, retry printing.
Let me know if printing is reestablished. Thanks.

Lost connectivity after power outage

If this is a printer WITHOUT WiFi or bluetooth - and you have it connected to another computer (Print Server) via a USB cable - you need to make sure you can see that computer from the other computer you are printing from. Use the network explorer - if you can see the computer and the printer you should be able to print to it.

Sometimes, it may be secured with a password. I found if I can map a shared drive from my laptop to my print server then I can print again. So see if you can see the printer and printer server computer from the other computer. If so you may need to add that printer again to you printer list.

Printer is on but will not print. Brother HL-2140 laser printer. The print log status reads = Error - Sent to printer.

Hello ,

First, please make sure there is no error message displayed on the LCD screen of the printer

Now we will check the status of your printer in the printers menu in the control panel.
The printer’s status should be set to “ready”
If the printer is “paused” simply clear the print queue, right click on the printer and select “resume printing”.

If the printer says “offline”, follow these steps.
  1. Clear the printer queue
  2. Shut down the computer
  3. Unplug the USB cable from your computer and your printer
  4. Unplug the power cable from the printer and wait 15 seconds
  5. Plug the USB cable back into the printer and the computer.
  6. Plug the printer’s power cable back in.
  7. Turn your computer back on.

Your printer status should be back to ready now and you are able to print.

Thanks,

Pat

Switching from copy to print from computer

If you look carefully at the printer you'll note that there is no button for "Print" and the reason for this is that all the other functions are for using the printer as if it wasn't connected, nor needed a computer.

All your printing functions that DO use a computer require you to interact with the printer via the computer.

In short, to use the printer from the computer you'll need to make sure you've installed the correct drivers (see your installation CD or the Canon website) and then plug the printer in using a USB cable connection to your computer. If the computer recognises the printer you'll then be able to print.

In a nutshell if your printer is connected and drivers installed properly it doesn't matter what your printer has selected on the printers own control panel, you just print :)

Hope that helps.

Every printer has a unique print driver on computer, and each and every printer uses a different one, so there goes it cant be my computer. The way to tell if it is a printer or computer problem on your machine is to Turn off, unplug from computer, ensure your printer has paper, power it on, wait for ready/online lamp, then press the "go" button 5 times super FAST. Status page should print if it does, then your problem is in fact the computer or the print driver not installed correctly on your computer, as I suspect may be the case.

Post back once you have verified if you have a printer or a computer problem.

Cannot print unless I turn off computer and then reboot.

I'm not a big fan of Lexmark in general in part due to their software and drivers. For me this type of behavior from their printers/software became common about a year ago, the fix being to use the more generic Windows supplied printer drivers. I would suggest that you uninstall all software the printer installed and remove all of the printers print queue(s)including any associated with the fax function. Unplug the printer USB cable from the computer, reboot your PC and reinstall the printer from scratch using your original installatin CD.
