How do i uninstall avg 2014?

Sounds like you installed the AVG Security Suite instead of the AVG Antivirus Free. Go to Control Panel - Open "Programs and Features" and you should see the program listed there. Right click the program and choose Uninstall. Once uninstalled, restart your computer, download AVG Antivirus Free and install it.

Hope this helps...

Have a virus. How do I do system restore to factory settings?

Hi

Have you any anti virus installed on your laptop ??

doing a factory restore is a bit drastic if having a virus is the only problem

there are several free anti virus programs on the net that you can download
that is if your laptop is still usable

free avg is quite a good one just be careful and read each stage of install so that you don't install some of the stuff that they wanna give you along with the free avg

If you still wanna do a system restore back to factory settings
make sure you save any files or pics that you don't want to loose on a spare hard drive or pen drive
or even burn them to disk
that is given the fact that your laptop is still working

DID you do any back up disks when you first had the laptop this would be useful if you did

Some acer's have a recovery partition
i think its some where like
start
programs
acer empering technology
acer erecovery manager
restore or recover something like that
click on it
follow the on screen instructions
windows will restart and hopefully do the recover

good luck
but i would try to remove the virus before a system recovery

I M WORRIED ABOUT VIRUS. WHAT CAN I DO NOW?

If you are worried about viruses affecting your computer, I suggest you install an anti-virus program on your computer. There are commercial anti-virus programs such as Nortons and McAfee.
There are also freeware anti-virus programs on the Internet, AVG is a good program. Generally commercial programs offer better protection.
AVG also offers a commercial version of their freeware anti-virus program.
Please click on this link to download freeware AVG should you wish to use this program :-

Initializing error :registry value is not of binary type

Sorry to here about your problems with AVG, generally Griftsoft (AVG) is a grate program, that is until recently.
I have run AVG for years, until they get bossy and BUSH you to Buy their Program. At which time, I decided to remove them and go elsewhere! But that's me, and others have their own opium.
1st. What operating system are you using.? XP or VISTA
2nd. Have you tried to un-install AVG ?
3rd. If the program is running, on the bottom right of screen, you should see the colored box (red. blue, green and yellow) Right click on it and delete.
4th. Next go to control panel and add or remove programs
5th. Find AVG anti-virus and remove.
6th. If you are running VISTA you may want to find your start-up folder and remove from that.
If all the above fails, drop me a email and I will explain removal using MSCONFIG.
