SOURCE: Syncing songs
i solved my problem, i think, by reformatting the player. the iriver tech help offered several methods to reformat, which didn't work. but this did: settings,--advanced,--format device. this will delete everything on the player, but now it can sync successfully.

SOURCE: IRiver Clix will not power on
I had the same problem, the player initially froze when switched on, then it was unrecognised by windows XP, finally the player would not power on or respond. It was returned to iriver europe and the motherboard was replaced. Works again! Very good service from iriver.

SOURCE: Frozen Screen - Won't Reset
Something a little different happened to me, but I fixed it.First, the problem: As I was recharging it, I bumped the iclix off the desk and it fell on the floor. It was fully charged and I didn't think anything of it. The next day, I turned it on, and it just stuck at the title screen, and would not turn off. It also didn't respond or do anything when I plugged in to connect it to WMP. It is probably just over a year old, so beyond the warranty.
Proceed at your own risk....and doing this voids the warranty. I took a swiss army knife and carefully pried the back (white side) panel off, lifting at a corner first. Then I took a table knife and lifted the battery out, which is taped or stuck in a little bit. You have to be really careful doing this as the battery metal is soft and distorts easily. Also, lift the battery from the end where it isn't attached to the two wires. Then, I touched the table knife to the metal lines on the circuit board and caused it to shut off, thereby reseting it. Nestled the battery back in place, snapped the back in, and it works like new. In fact, it works like it did when I got it, as for the past few months, it hasn't been remembering my last track, but now it does.
Whew! What a relief I don't have to buy a new one, because I didn't want to go through the hassle of getting this repaired, nor did I want to buy a new one, because I liked this one a lot. My theory was that the jolt from the fall, while it was connected and recharging, caused it to freeze the internal software, or something.
I think tex1084 has a similar problem and might try this, if let's say, your warranty is gone, and you've already bought another. I almost threw mine away, and boy I'm glad I didn't!

If you have a song up just click and hold to the right and a bunch of options should show up. The first option should be "play mode" and in there you can choose whether your playlist (or album, depending on how to navigated to the song) will shuffle and repeat.
