I just bought 2 off ebay and neither one will turn on. I have tried to use the reset buttons and still no power. Am I doing something wrong? Or is this bad luck and both are defective?

I have the same problem with my new Presto Digital ProFry. It worked fine for three or four times after I got it. I took it out again after it had been sitting, clean and empty, for a few days, put in fresh oil, and nothing works. Reset button does nothing...I tried using different outlets. It doesn't beep, no lights, nothing.

I have a presto fryer. The indicator light would come on before I plugged the element into the fryer, but immediately went off when inserted into the fryer. I took the element part apart and jiggled the pieces inside a bit, put it back together and to my surprise it worked just fine!

I had the same thing on a Presto deep fryer. I removed that back cover and traced the wires from the AC inlet. One lead goes to a switch that activates when you slide the heater into the case so the heating element will not turn on if it is not in the case. I removed the switch, pushed it in and out a few times, verified that it works with a multimeter, reassembled everything, and "presto", it works. Maybe I was lucky, but it worked for me.

I have an imperial fryer. Pilot is on but main burners don't ignite. Pilot looks normal & thermostat clicks when turned

Number 5 is your thermopile/pilot generator. It is a pilot generator that does 2 things. It holds open the valve with a safety magnet and it operates the safety valve solenoid whenever the control stat calls for heat. Overtime they get weak and will hold the pilot but not operate the valve solenoid. I would replace that pilot generator.thermopile and party on!

I change the thermocople but now the burner don't lit

Hi there!
Check if the thermocouple is properly heated by the pilot flame.
Check also if the hi limit has continuity across the terminals.
Regards.

Put a new valve in a imperial fryer pilot lights and stays lit but when i turn the t-stat on it shuts off

The reason is the pilot generator will hold the safety magnet but it won't operate the solenoid.
It is old and weak.Ain't putting out enough power to operate the solenoid. Get a new generator

I just purchased my fryer at garage sale today, it's missing the cord. What type do I need to get and where can I find it. Thank you,

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.

These cords (unless the magnetic type are available at most hardware stores ("Woods" / Woods Industries or Coleman Cable are the product brand names.) These cords are usually in the area of extension cords.

Having said that... The distance between the pins is the difference. There are 1/2" cords 11/16" plug cords and 1 1/16" cords. I need to know the distance between the pins center to center of your fryer connector terminals.

Most Fryers use a 3 Ft cord and roasters use a 6 ft Cord. You cna use a 6 ft cord but do NOT use it for an extended period. The cord you purchase must be wire gage 16/2 NOT 18/2 in wire size.
The 18/2 gage will only handle 1250 watts.

The part number of the cord will be either 0290 or 09326 (You can net "IMAGE search" these for sources)

Here is one source for the cord.
http://www.hardwareandtools.com/Coleman-Cable-0290-6-Foot-Black-Appliance-Cord-0429928.html

If you have the magnetic base / end plug let me know and I will find you the correct plug.
Just repsond here and say you need the magnetic recepticle cord.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

Where can I get a philips deep fryers power cord. I lost the power cord.

If it is a non-magnet type you can purchase them here:
http://brands.hardwarestore.com/33-118-woods-industries.aspx

The first 2nd and 4th cords are the female cords.
I am thinking this is the cord your looking for:
http://electrical.hardwarestore.com/12-33-appliance-replacement-cords/appliance-cord-652573.aspx
Fits all standard brand roasters, broilers and deep fryers using pin spacing of 1-1/16".
