Try bridging your USB network connection with your ethernet network connection.  This will allow you to share your network connection and your Xbox should be able to hit the internet through your computer.  sandrew is correct, but by sharing your internet connection you can fool your xbox into thinking your computer is actually a router.

As you can see your computer, I'm assuming you have the necessary crossover cable, so you should be good to go after that.

You are only sharing files with your pc to xbox, you cannot connect to the net throught the pc, the xbox has to have connection to a modem/router, or a router itself which is connected to modem.

After you select either Configure Network or Edit Settings, you will be on the Basic Settings tab, which contains your IP and DNS settings. When you select the IP Settings block, you are prompted to select an Automatic or Manual configuration. If you select Automatic, the Xbox 360 console will try to automatically determine your IP settings from your network or from your modem or Internet service provider (ISP). This option is recommended for most users.

You may have to or prefer to manually configure the IP settings, especially when a static IP address is used. This is necessary only if your ISP has issued a static IP address, or if you have configured the router to issue static IPs (and DHCP is not used). To manually configure the settings, select Manual, and then enter the IP Address, Subnet Mask, and Gateway by using the keyboard on the screen. When the information is complete, select Done.
DNS settings, primary and secondary DNS servers loadTOCNode(2, 'moreinformation'); After you select either Configure Network or Edit Settings, you will be on the Basic Settings tab, which contains your IP and DNS settings. When you select the DNS Settings block, you are prompted to select Automatic or Manual configuration. If you select Automatic, the Xbox 360 console will try to automatically determine your DNS settings from your network or from your modem or ISP. This option is recommended for most users.

You may have to or prefer to manually configure the DNS settings, especially in scenarios in which a static IP address is used or where DHCP is not available or not offered by the ISP. To manually configure the settings, select Manual, and then enter the primary and secondary DNS server names by using the keyboard on the screen. When the information is complete, select Done. Note You do not have to enter a secondary DNS server to connect to Xbox LIVE. A secondary DNS server is required only if the primary DNS server has technical problems.
Wireless settings loadTOCNode(2, 'moreinformation'); To configure your Xbox 360 console to connect to your wireless network by using an Xbox 360 Wireless Adapter, follow these steps:
  1. Access Network Settings .
  2. On the Basic Settings tab, select Wireless Settings.

Note If the wireless settings area does not appear or is unavailable, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: 909333 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/909333/ ) While attempting to view the settings for a wireless network connection, all the wireless functions appear to be disabled in the Xbox Dashboard
  3. Follow the instructions to select your wireless network, select your wireless network name, and then enter your wireless security information.
  4. Select Done.
PPPoE settings loadTOCNode(2, 'moreinformation'); If your Internet service provider uses PPPoE authentication, you have to enter the settings in the Xbox Dashboard if you have a direct connection through a modem. If you use a router or a gateway instead, leave the PPPoE settings blank because the router performs PPPoE authentication. Note If your ISP does not use PPPoE authentication, make sure that these settings are blank. To learn whether your ISP uses PPPoE authentication and to learn the correct PPPoE information, contact your ISP.To configure the PPPoE settings on your Xbox 360 console, follow the steps for the version of the Xbox Dashboard that you are using.

New Xbox Experience (NXE) Dashboard:
  1. Move to the System area of the Xbox Dashboard by using one of these methods:
    • Press the Xbox Guide button on your controller to open the Xbox Guide, scroll to the right to access Settings, and then select System Settings from the list of options.
    • Select the My Xbox channel, and then scroll to the right to select System Settings.
  2. Select Network Settings.
  3. Select Configure Network.
  4. On the Additional Settings tab, select PPPoE Settings.
  5. Use the keyboard on the screen to enter the PPPoE information that was provided by your ISP.
  6. Select Done.
  7. Select Back to return to the main Network Settings area.
  8. Select Test Xbox LIVE Connection to restart the test with the new PPPoE settings that you have configured.
sure it will work thank you

Xbox 360 DNS failure

unless a 360 has a modem built into it, you're gonna need one. also, you may need to set up an Xboxlive account to do ANYTHING. check your settings on the console as well to make sure things are working.

My xbox 360 wont take ip anymore

go to your router. find what your ip pool is. choose an ip that is in that pool. set up your xbox's internet manually. you need the gateway, DNS, and everything (you can find this on your router online) this will give your xbox a static IP and might fix your problem

Live will not work dns failed

Go to your computer, click START/Control Panel/Network Connections.

Right click on whichever Local Area Connection you use and click PROPERTIES. After that highlight Internet Protocol TCP/IP that is in the general tab. Once highlighted click the Properties button below. If your IP addresses are put in Manually look on the bottom and see what your DNS #'s are. If you have the on there, put those in on the Network Settings for your Xbox 360 through the dashboard.

I hope this helps and that it didn't sound too confusing

Try calling XBOX customer support. They will know exactly how to fix your problem. Their number is 1-800-4MY-XBOX. (1-800-469-9269). This is the best way to fix this problem because the technicians are certified and they know what to do.

Hope this helps,
